India opened the Chemistry Cup with three excellent triumphs

The Chemistry Cup is one of the strongest European international competitions where three Asian teams are attending as preparation for the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games. The Indian team began well in the first competition day winning three tough fights against Russian, German and Irish opponents in Halle.
India’s two-time Olympian Vikas Krishan Yadav won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in April and arrived to the Chemistry Cup to show his great potential. Krishan, who was Asian Games winner as a teenager eight years ago, launched effective jabs in the first round against Ireland’s EUBC European Youth Champion Michael Nevin. The Indian middleweight (75kg) boxer had more experiences than his Irish opponent and his punches were also stronger. The 26-year-old Indian had a few difficulties in the final round but the Irish talent was not able to turn back their world class bout.
India’s Amit Panghal was bronze medallist in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and he claimed silver in the Commonwealth Games. The Indian light flyweight (49kg) boxer, who is preparing to the Asian Games, had to meet with Germany’s Christopher Goman and did not show his very best in the first round. Amit increased his speed in the second and he was hard target for the German teenager and following he destroyed Goman’s defence the Indian dominated their fight.
India’s Commonwealth Games winner Gaurav Solanki is in top form this year which he proved also in the quarter-finals of the flyweight (52kg) in Halle against such strong opponent as Russia’s two-time National Champion Vadim Kudriakov. The 21-year-old Indian boxer felt the rhythm from the first seconds against the attacking Russian and his effectiveness was the difference on Day1.
