Huang Hsiao Wen and Lin Yu Ting were the stars of the women’s finals at the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup

The elite women finals were one of the most exciting moments of the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup which is their important selection event which holds always in the end of the year. Next to the new young talents, their two AIBA Women’s World Champions as Huang Hsiao Wen and Lin Yu Ting earned gold medals in the President’s Cup.

The venue of the President’s Cup was the National Taiwan University of Sport Gymnasium in Taichung City where 667 boxers registered to attend in the elite, youth and junior competitions. Their powerful women’s elite boxers could compete in ten different weight categories in Taichung.

The last edition of the President’s Cup was held in Chinese Taipei one year ago but the country hosted several various national level competitions in 2021 to support all of the age groups. Their last event was the National Games which was held before the AIBA World Boxing Championships.

Chinese Taipei has got impressive women’s elite national team which earned already three gold medals in the history of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2018 and in 2019 and also one bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Chuang Kai Ting achieved silver medal in the National Games at the flyweight (51kg) but moved down to the minimumweight (48kg) which is her best category. The young boxer faced in the final with last year’s silver medallist Chen Chien Hui but she managed to win that contest. The second gold medal was taken by Tsai Shao Yu who defeated Chen Tzu Hsuan in the next final of the President’s Cup.

Lin Chiao Ling was silver medallist in the 2019 edition but she impressed in the final against National President’s Cup winner Wu Tzu Hsuan and earned gold medal. Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medallist and AIBA Women’s World Champion Huang Hsiao Wen used her distance well enough against Huang Pei Chi and achieved the title of the bantamweight (54kg) with a remarkable performance.

Chen Chin Lien attended at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and the 20-year-old talent reached now the top of the podium following her success over Tu Yu Chen at the featherweight (57kg). AIBA Women’s World Champion and two-time ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting moved up to the lightweight (60kg) and dominated her final over Tai Ching Ting as all experts expected.

Huang Yu Ting lost to Tokyo Olympian Wu Shih Yi in the finals of the National Games a few weeks ago but in the absence of her top rival, she changed that silver into gold medal at the President’s Cup. The young talent defeated Tang Te Jung in the final of the light welterweight (63kg) and enjoyed that great success. Su Ching Wen moved up to the welterweight (66kg) and won her first major elite national title.

Chen Ssu Yu triumphed over Lin Chien Yu in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg) and claimed her next national gold medal. Ko Yuan Chien won the gold medal at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships which was a historical success for Chinese Taipei and she earned her first elite national title in Taichung City.
