The annual Galym Zharylgapov Tournament will be held next month
One of the possible highlight of December could be the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament which will be held in the Serik Sapiyev Box Centre in the city of Karagandy. Galym Zharylgapov was honoured boxing coach of Kazakhstan and the local organizers decided to name the tournament after him.
The competition is scheduled in ten men weight classes: 49 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg, 91 kg and +91 kg. Boxers who were born in 1997 or earlier can take part in the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament in Karagandy. The venue is the Serik Sapiyev Box Centre which was named after Kazakhstan’s 2012 Olympic Champion in boxing who is one of the most famous person in the Central Asian country.
The local organizers invited strong nations to the tournament to give the chance for the athletes to raise their international experiences before the main qualification events in 2016. The competition will be starting in Karagandy on December 16 while the finals of the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament are scheduled on December 21. The boxers who ranked 1-3 in the tournament will receive medals and also money prizes from the regional federation.
In the recent editions of the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament host Kazakhstan dominated the competition but Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Cuba, Azerbaijan, Mongolia and Tajikistan also achieved great results in Karagandy.
