Fruitful South Asian Meeting was held in Delhi

The South Asian nations have had important meetings in Delhi in India in the recent days to increase the region’s partnership and future possibilities in boxing. India is one of the leading boxing power in the Asian continent but the region’s developing nations are also planning to join to the strong countries with tough athletes in the future.
President of Boxing Federation of India Mr. Ajay Singh is very active in the international boxing map, his country has been hosting coach courses, national events and the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships this November. Furthermore Delhi will be welcoming the best men’s elite boxers in the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari and his International Director Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi not only attended in the meetings but they had already plans for the next steps in the South Asian region. Afghanistan launched several boxing programs in the country and their new Facebook page is one of their ways to increase their communication possibilities.
President of the Nepal Boxing Federation Mr. Ram Awale and Honorary President of the Nepal Boxing Federation Mr. Bishnu Gopal Shrestha are also attended in the meetings. Nepal will be hosting the next edition of the South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 2019 therefore the negotiations were very important for the mountain’s kingdom.
The South Asian countries discussed about the developments of the sport in the region and the future cooperation among the National Federations. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives are the region’s countries. The population of the region is more than 1.5 billion and has got fantastic future potential in the sport.
The biggest boxing event in the region is the South Asian Games which was held in 2016 a last but Afghanistan was proposed to launch a new event, the South Asian Championships to give more chance to the boxers to increase their international experiences. India, Nepal and Sri Lanka are partners in this strong proposal to host the South Asian Boxing Championships in the future.
