Five ASBC medallists claimed titles in the Kyrgyz Youth National Championships

Nineteen boxers have been crowned at the Kyrgyzstan Youth National Championships in Bishkek after the finals of the event. Kyrgyzstan’s medallists from the previous ASBC Championships as Zukhra Israilova, Bekzat Ergeshov, Almaz Orozbekov, Omar Livaza and Argen Baktybekov defeated all of their rivals in the national event.

Altogether 140 boxers attended in the national youth competition including 14 girls and 126 boys. One of the first events of the new year, the Kyrgyzstan Youth & Junior National Tournament was held in their capital city in Bishkek in the first days of January but the local National Federation is active and arranged several further events.

The national competition was their second selection for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which will be held in Amman, Jordan from February 27 until March 15. The registrations are already open for the second ASBC Boxing Championships in 2022 and Kyrgyzstan has got strong expectations also in Amman.

The Kyrgyz boxers impressed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai on August 2021 where the country claimed thirteen medals. Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 could attend in the annual Kyrgyzstan Youth National Championships.

The girls could compete in six different weight categories at the 2022 Kyrgyz Youth National Championships. Only five girls attended in the 2021 Kyrgyz Youth National Championships which was increased up to 14 in 2022.

Yelizaveta Yevdokimova lives and trains in the historical city of Osh and following her strong preparations, she defeated the defending champion Naryn region’s Perizat Temirova in the final of the minimumweight (48kg). The second female gold medal in Bishkek was achieved by Issyk-Kul region’s Farida Abduyeva who defeated Albina Maksatbek Kyzy at the flyweight (52kg).

Issyk Kul region’s Zukhra Israilova achieved bronze medal at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the 16-year-old girl turned to youth on January. She was too experienced and strong for Zhibek Bolotbekova in the final of the bantamweight (54kg). Chui region’s Elmira Adylbekova and Baktygul Kurmanbekova were the next winners in the women’s part of the competition. Ayday Borbasheva was the titleholder at the women’s middleweight (75kg) but she was defeated by Sabina Duyshenova of Bishkek in the final.

Dzhalal-Abad region’s 16-year-old Bekzat Ergeshov was silver medallist at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and won his first youth event following his success over Elkhan Moldogaziyev at the minimumweight (48kg). Issyk-Kul region’s Kutman Kazakbayev defeated 2021 Junior National Championships bronze medallist Elistan Alimzhanov in the final of the flyweight (51kg).

Askat Chomonov was only bronze medallist in the 2021 Junior National Championships and joined to the youth age group this January. Following that achievement, he defeated a more experienced rival, Osh’s Beksultan Baktybek Uulu at the bantamweight (54kg). Bishkek’s Akzhol Asylbek Uulu achieved his career highlight with his gold medal at the featherweight (57kg) after beating Chui region’s Bakhtiyar Yuldashev in the final.

Almaz Orozbekov achieved gold medal in the 2021 Kyrgyzstan Junior National Championships and silver at the Dubai ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships therefore his success over Amangeldi Sadykov of Osh was highly anticipated. Kyrgyzstan’s top hope in the age group, ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Omar Livaza defeated Almanbet Shairbek Uulu in the final while Junior National Champion Roman Sevastyanov earned bronze medal in Bishkek.

Talas region’s Zakir Lyalyaza claimed silver medal in the 2021 Kyrgyzstan Junior National Championships which he changed into gold in his first youth competition following his victory over Elzat Satarkulov in the final of the welterweight (67kg). Issyk-Kul region’s Vadim Baurin was one of the favourites as the light middleweight (71kg) but another experienced talent, Eldar Turdubayev celebrated his gold medal in this strong category.

Experienced international boxers as Dzhalal-Abad region’s Daniel Abdurakhmanov and ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Bekbol Murasbekov met each other in the final of the middleweight (75kg). The bout was one of the most anticipated contests of the Kyrgyz Youth National Championships and won by Abdurakhmanov in the most hectic bout of the finals.

Bishkek’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Mukhammed Dursunov had a few difficulties in the recent two years but he returned to the top of the podium in his first youth competition. Bishkek’s next gold medal was taken by Sanzhar Tenizbekov at the cruiserweight (86kg) who defeated Sabyr Zhenishbekov in the next final.

Bishkek’s Argen Baktybekov achieved medals also in the Fujairah and Dubai ASBC events and arrived to the event as top favourite of the heavyweight (92kg). The 17-year-old boxer defeated Emir-Khan Razhapov who claimed bronze at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The super heavyweight (+92kg) gold medal was achieved by Said Anarbekov in the Youth National Championships as the last winner.
