Fifteen countries claimed medals in the boxing tournament of the Asian Games revealed after all quarter-finals

The second part of the quarter-finals was held for the women and men boxers in the boxing tournament of the Asian Games in Jakarta on Day6. China, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the fifteen countries which have got remaining boxers after the quarter-finals.
Altogether 194 boxers from 31 countries are fighting for the 10 gold medals in the boxing event of the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games. China, host Indonesia, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Mongolia and Thailand are attending with maximum number of 10 boxers in the Asian Games.
Uzbekistan’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games winner and two-times ASBC Asian Champion Hasanboy Dusmatov never claimed any gold medal in the Asian Games yet therefore he is focused in Jakarta to his next big target. The 25-year-old Uzbek light flyweight (49kg) boxer controlled his whole bout against Laos’ Khamsathone Khamphouvanh and continued his winning path against Kyrgyzstan’s National Champion Mirlan Turkbay Uulu. Dusmatov advanced to the last four of the Asian Games and his gold medal chances are still alive.

DPR Korea’s Jo Hyo Nam joined to the national team one and half year ago and he proved strong performance in the international events in 2017. Jo eliminated Turkmenistan’s Islamic Solidarity Games silver medallist Yakub Meredov with large margin of differences which bout showed his extra potential. The young North Korean bantamweight (56kg) boxer has done as big surprise on Day 6 when he met with Thailand’s ASBC Asian Champion and AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chatchai Butdee who eliminated Kazakhstan’s defending AIBA World Champion Kairat Yeraliyev. Jo was a hard target for Butdee and the North Korean boxer’s counter-attacks delivered for him an unexpected success.
China’s Xu Boxiang arrived to the Asian Games with medal expectations and he could realize his dreams in Jakarta at the bantamweight (56kg). The Chinese boxer, who has got strong experiences in the World Series Boxing, controlled all of the rounds against Pakistan’s Naqeebullah who won two contests previously. The 26-year-old Xu, who replaced Zhang Jiawei in the national team, advanced to the semi-finals of the category and accomplished his minimum target.
Indonesia’s Sunan Agung Amoragam claimed bronze medal in the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament and following his close success over Kyrgyzstan’s Sirodjiddin Abdullaev he absolutely gave in everything to his next fight. The 21-year-old Indonesian bantamweight (56kg) kept his focus until the end of the final gong and defeated Iraq’s Jaafar Abdulridha Ali Al-Sudani by split decision in Jakarta.
Uzbekistan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist and ASBC Asian Champion Ikboljon Kholdarov is the main gold medal contender of the light welterweight (64kg) but his first opponent was not an ideal one, Jordan’s Asian Games bronze medallist Obada Al-Kasbeh. The 21-year-old Kholdarov won that key contest by unanimous decision in the last 16 and his unpredictable movements were too much for South Korea’s Lim Hyun Suk in the quarter-finals today.
Thailand’s defending Asian Games winner and ASBC Asian Champion Wuttichai Masuk had to do his very best to eliminate his seven-year younger rival Bakhodur Usmonov of Tajikistan. The 28-year-old Thai boxer was not enough shape in the first round against Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Bekdaulet Ibragimov but he stepped into the gas from the second and eliminated his top rival in Jakarta remaining his golden chance alive.
Kazakhstan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Abilkhan Amankul is a world class boxer at the men’s middleweight (75kg) who was the flag bearer of their national team in the Opening Ceremony. The 21-year-old Kazakh eliminated Thailand’s Aphisit Kanankhokkhruea and landed strong punches against Chinese Taipei’s younger Kan Chia Wei in their quarter-final. Amankul’s best round was the second when his powerful punches decided their contest in Jakarta.
Philippines’ ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist Eumir Felix Marcial stopped Macau’s Ng Kuok Kun in the first round of the men’s middleweight (75kg) in Jakarta. The 23-year-old Filipino had to do his very best in his key contest against Iran’s Seyed Shahin Mousavi who defeated Syria’s Mediterranean Games No.1 Ahmad Ghossoun in the last 16. Marcial landed powerful punches and his strong performance meant that after Paalam and Ladon he is also medallist in the Asian Games.
China’s Youth Olympic Games winner and AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion Chang Yuan is 21 now and she is ready to get a top result in the elite competitions. The Chinese flyweight (51kg) boxer used her aggressive and powerful attacks to control her quarter-final against India’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sarjubala Shamjetsabam Devi. Chang Yuan worked well in the whole contest and secured a guaranteed medal in her first Asian Games.
