Asian Games – Hero of Day6 – Philippines’ Carlo Paalam

The Asian Boxing Confederation’s project the Hero of the Day will be published after each competition day during the boxing tournament of the Asian Games. Following Turkmenistan’s rising star Hursand Imankuliyev and South Korea’s two-time ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Oh Yeon Ji, Mongolia’s flyweight (52kg) boxer Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag, Thailand’s Chatchai Butdee and Philippines’ Rogen Ladon, Philippines’ Carlo Paalam became the Hero of Day6.
Philippines’ Carlo Paalam was born in Bukidnon on July 16 in 1998 and he began his boxing career at the age of 12. His first international success was a bronze medal at the 2016 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships which he repeated at the St. Petersburg 2016 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.
Paalam joined to the elite age group in January 2017 and since then he won the Republic of Kazakhstan President’s Cup, the Korotkov Memorial Tournament in Russia and the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament. The 20-year-old Filipino light flyweight (49kg) boxer put himself into the spotlight in the Asian Games following his success over Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Champion Temirtas Zhussupov.
