Feruza Kazakova won the most exciting female final at the Uzbekistan Nationals
The women’s finals were impressively exciting at the Uzbekistan National Championships in Tashkent where the several Asian Champions shined and earned their titles.
The Uzbekistan Elite National Championships served as the main selection competition in for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will be starting in Busto Arsizio, Italy on February 29. The management of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation invited neutral referees and judges to work in the National Championships.
Bukhara’s Farzona Fozilova, the Asian U22 Champion, had a tough contest in the final of the minimumweight (48kg), but she managed to beat the 19-year-old Saidakhon Rakhmonova of Andizhan for the title, in a repeat match.
Tashkent region’s Asian U22 Champion Feruza Kazakova and another multiple Asian Champion Sabina Bobokulova of Bukhara have great rivalries at the light flyweight (50kg) which is an Olympic category. Kazakova was more successful in this national event and she defeated her main rival winning the contest by 4:0 split decision.
Uzbekistan’s 20-year-old Nigina Uktamova (54kg) has already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games therefore she was absent in the Women’s National Championships. Dzhizak’s Mukhlisa Khushvaktova used up this opportunity to get a title in Tashkent, stopping Shokhsanam Safarova.
The 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Champion Sitora Turdibekova of Samarkand did not underestimate a promising rival in the final of the featherweight (57kg), Khumorabonu Mamajonova of Ferghana and she earned the title in Tashkent.
The Tokyo Olympian Raykhona Kodirova returned to the national team in time to compete in the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Tashkent’s 30-year-old lightweight (60kg) boxer had a more difficult final than she expected but she could beat Rashida Tagirova by 4:1 split decision.
Uzbekistan’s next ASBC Asian Elite Champion, Navbakhor Khamidova is still in the U22 age group but she was too experienced for all of her rivals at the women’s welterweight (66kg) in Tashkent. Ferghana’s pride landed heavy punches against Marjona Eshboyeva in the first round and her opponent’s ringside abandoned this final.
Dzhizak’s next pride, the two-time Asian Youth Champion Aziza Zokirova received the right to compete at the Asian Games in Hangzhou and she faced with her main national rival, Sokhiba Ruzmetova once again. The 19-year-old Zokirova received the right instructions from her corner and defeated Ruzmetova once again.
Azizabonu Mamirova returned to the sport after a break and she won one of the non-Olympic weight categories, the flyweight (52kg) in Tashkent. Mokhinabonu Abdullayeva (63kg), Khadijabonu Abdullayeva (70kg), the best boxer of the Asian Youth Championships, Oltinoy Sotimboyeva (81kg) and the World bronze medallist Mokhira Abdullayeva (+81kg) won the remaining titles in Tashkent.
