Erkinboyev, Ummataliyev, 2 other Uzbeks seize gold in Dracula Open

Uzbekistan’s reigning youth world champions Fazliddin Erkinboyev and Javokhir Ummataliyev as well as two compatriots claimed titles in the Dracula Open Youth & Junior Tournament held at the Polivalenta Hall in Arad, Romania.

Erkinboyev, who is also a defending ASBC Asian youth titlist, came through with a 5-0 romp over Ukraine’s Artur Kasyanov to lord over the middleweight (75kg) class.

Ummataliyev also subdued a Ukrainian foe in Mykyta Zakharchenko via a 4-1 decision in the light middleweight (71kg) division.

Asian junior champ Shavkatjon Boltayev walked over to the welterweight (67kg) gold as Italy’s Davide Fiore was unable to fight.

Asian youth bronze medalist Miralijon Mavlonov manhandled France’s Christopher Hippocrate, 5-0, to snag the flyweight (51kg) trophy.

Only Sayat Ilyasov (light-60kg) settled for a silver among the five boxers chosen by head coach Olimjon Makhmudov to join the event following the Uzbek Youth National Championships.

The Uzbeks are raring to continue their dominance in the men’s tournament of the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships slated in August.
