Enkhtur and Oyunbaatar defended their thrones in the Mongolian Junior National Championships
The Mongolian Junior National Championships for the women and men boxers was held in the city of Erdenet. Mongolia is always strong in the junior level and has got great talents in this age group which was proved by their two main young hopes Teshjargal Enkhtur and Tulga Oyunbaatar.
The Mongolian Boxing Federation is planning to send boxers to the all ASBC events in 2017 therefore the competition was also a selection event. The ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships will be held in Davao, Philippines in August where Mongolia is planning to get medals in August.
Boxers who were born in 2001 and in 2002 were eligible to compete in the Mongolian Junior National Championships. The boxers who were born in 2001 could be there in the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games which will be the key event next year’s October. The qualification process for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games will be held in Asia next year’s April.
The number of the boxers in the Mongolian Junior National Championships was 210 athletes including 68 women and 142 men. The women’s juniors fought in seven divisions from the 46 kg up to the +57kg weight class. The men’s junior boxers could compete in ten weight classes from the 44kg up to the +63kg divisions.
Tsogtbayar Esugen won the gold medal at the flyweight (50kg) of the 2016 Mongolian Women’s Junior National Championships and she was able to repeat that strong performance in the new edition. The 16-year-old talent moved up to the bantamweight (54kg) but she was able to defeat all of her rivals by large margin of difference.
Tsolmonbaatar Namuun-Ursgal became the second female junior boxer who could defend her throne in the Mongolian Women’s Junior National Championships. The 16-year-old boxer was too strong for her rivals at the +57kg and has got great chance to box in the international level later this year. Mungunchimeg Ganbolor (46kg), Tugsjargal Nomin-Erdene (48kg) and Ganzorig Badmaarag (57kg) all proved strong performance in the national event.
Teshjargal Enkhtur has got experiences from the international junior events therefore he was too strong for his opponents in the National Championships. The Children of Asia Games competitor and National Championships bronze medallist dominated his final against E. Shinebold and defended his throne in his new light bantamweight (52kg).
Tulga Oyunbaatar is the most experienced Mongolian junior boxer who dominated all of his contests in the National Championships. He also attended in the Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk one year ago when he spent his first year in the junior age group. The super talented Mongolian boxer also defended his throne in the national event as Teshjargal Enkhtur and looking forward his participation in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in the Philippines.
