Eight strong Kazakh boxers will attend in the highlight of the week, at the Cologne Boxing World Cup

The Cologne Boxing World Cup will be the next highlight of the boxing events where among the best Asian teams, the Kazakhs will be there in the city of Köln. Eight outstanding Kazakh boxers will be attending in the Cologne Boxing World Cup following their strong preparations and successes at the Boxam Tournament.

Germany’s top international event has been re-scheduled twice last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and postponed to December 2020. The new edition is scheduled to be hosted in Cologne in March 10-14 and will be supporting the preparations of the boxers. The name of the event was known as Chemistry Cup in the previous decades and has got the tradition and bright boxing history with many stars on the board.

Among the best Asian teams, the Indians attended in the strong international competition in the city of Köln and bagged three gold medals in December 2020. Amit Panghal, Manisha Moun and Simranjit Kaur earned gold medals for India in the last step of their European tour three months ago and the Kazakhs are also planning to conquer the German event.

Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov claimed bronze medal at the Yekaterinburg 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships and qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games through the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. He lost the final of the flyweight (52kg) in the Kazakhstan National Championships to Makhmud Sabyrkhan but he can represent the country in Tokyo and the Cologne Boxing World Cup will be his next competition.

Orazbek Assylkulov claimed silver medal in the Kazakhstan National Championships and he received the chance to attend at the featherweight (57kg) in Cologne. Former ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Yertugan Zeinulinov achieved the title of the lightweight (63kg) in the 2020 Kazakhstan National Championships causing a surprise and he can compete in a top international stage.

Aslanbek Shymbergenov achieved silver medal at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games and he has dozens of international tournament successes from the recent eight years therefore he could be a favourite at the welterweight (69kg). ASBC Asian Youth Champion Yermakhan Zhakpekov will be Kazakhstan’s participant at the middleweight (75kg).

AIBA Youth World Champion Nurbek Oralbay (81kg) and his twin brother, Youth Olympic Games winner Aibek Oralbay (91kg) will be also strong favourites at the Cologne Boxing World Cup. Two-time AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Kamshybek Kunkabayev (+91kg) is a Tokyo Olympian who uses the Cologne Boxing World Cup as preparation for the Games.
