Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup started with the participation of 700 boxers

Chinese Taipei’s next event, their National President’s Cup started in the city of Taichung today where record-breaking number of boxers are participating for the titles.

The junior, youth and elite boxers are competing in the National President’s Cup which is the main selection competition in Chinese Taipei this year.

Chinese Taipei’s new pride, the ASBC Asian Junior Champion, the 15-year-old Shen Sin Ai will be competing in the upcoming Junior World Boxing Championships therefore she will miss the National President’s Cup this time.

The Rio Olympian Lai Chu En and Kan Chia Wei have already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and for the very first time in their boxing history, at least two male boxers will represent Chinese Taipei in France’s capital next summer.

The Women’s World Champion Lin Yu Ting and Wu Shih Yi both secured their spots for their second Olympic Games after the last Tokyo edition. Lin Yu Ting could be one of the main favorites at the women’s featherweight (57kg) in Paris next year.

Two of their Women’s World Champions such as Chen Nien Chin (66kg) and Huang Hsiao Wen (54kg) have not qualified for the Olympic Games yet but they will have the strong chance to make that in the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Busto Arsizio, Italy on March 2024.

The National President’s Cup welcomed altogether more than 700 boxers and both genders are able to show their skills in Taichung city. The local organizers are using two rings in the National President’s Cup which could be the busiest competition in the whole Asian continent this month. The most important finals of the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup will be held on the sixth competition day on November 25.
