Chinese Taipei claimed two gold medals in the historical boxing event of the ISF Gymnasiade in Morocco

The junior boxing team of Chinese Taipei claimed two gold medals in the ISF Gymnasiade which was held in Marrakech, Morocco. Boxing was involved to the program and among the Asian nations Chinese Taipei achieved two titles following Hung Yu Mei and Tsai Jui Chih won their weight classes in Marrakech.
The ISF Gymnasiade is a multisport event which was launched in 1974 but the new edition was the first when boxing was involved to the official program of the Games. Junior boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 had the right to compete in the historical boxing tournament of the ISF Gymnasiade.
Hung Yu Mei claimed gold medals in the recent two editions of the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup and following her amazing national successes she was involved to their team in the ISF Gymnasiade. The 16-year-old light welterweight (63kg) boxer had to meet in the final of the event with Russia’s National Champion Kristina Kulukhova but Hung was able to control the fight against her top rival. Hung Yu Mei’s hand was raised after the final bell which gold medal is her career highlight.
Tsai Jui Chih is Chinese Taipei’s best man junior hope who was there in the Top8 at the Puerto Princesa 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships when he spent his first year among the juniors. Tsai arrived to Marrakech in top form and his 45 previous contests helped him to win Chinese Taipei’s second gold medal in the ISF Gymnasiade. Tsai defeated three top European boxers in Marrakech such as Hungary’s Milan Muhovits, Russia’s powerful Ivan Lyspak and Ukraine’s Hennadii Maslennikov at the men’s light bantamweight (52kg).
Chinese Taipei’s Lu Zih Ying claimed silver medal at the women’s light bantamweight (52kg) while Tseng Kuan Ting (men’s 48kg), Lin Chun Hsien (men’s 57kg), Chang Chun Pin (men’s 63kg), Wei Chi Yi (women’s 48kg) and Chang Yi Hsuan (women’s 57kg) were their further bronze medallists in Marrakech.
