Chairman Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid led the fruitful ASBC Youth Commission Meeting

As all of the other important negotiations in the recent weeks, the ASBC Youth Commission Meeting was held also online to discuss the most important topics and challenges which affect the daily work of the commission. The Zoom online meeting was led by the Chairman of the ASBC Youth Commission, Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid of Malaysia.  

Among the 13 members of the ASBC Youth Commission Meeting 9 attended in the online Zoom discussions. Next to the Chairman Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid of Malaysia, Mr. Abdullah Al-Yami of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Hassan Brez of Syria, Mr. Mohammad Mazharul Islam of Bangladesh, Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi of Afghanistan, Mr. Abdallah Nashwan of Jordan, Mr. Hemanta Kumar Kalita of India, Mr. Shi Yingjie of China and Mr. Omar Alkendi of the United Arab Emirates could join to the online meeting.

The ASBC Youth Commission Meeting was opened by ASBC Sports Director Mr. Omar Aljabri and ASBC Administrative Director Mr. Bassam Ghanem who welcomed all members and briefed them about the background and objectives of the meeting. Chairman Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid greeted all presented officials and the ASBC Executives and wished wellbeing for all of his commission members.

The original plan to held the ASBC Youth Commission Meeting was a face-to-face personal discussion during the next ASBC Asian Boxing Championships but all of the events have been postponed due to the Covid-19 situation and the travel restrictions.

Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid appointed Mr. Hemanta Kumar Kalita of India as Vice-Chairman of the ASBC Youth Commission which was agreed by all members unanimously. The Chairman also appointed the Secretary of the ASBC Youth Commission, Mr. Omar Alkendi of the United Arab Emirates has the right to hold this position. His first initiative and task was to write the Minutes of the Meeting following the discussions.

ASBC Sports Director Mr. Omar Aljabri informed all members about the decision of the ASBC Executive Committee to delay all ASBC Boxing Championships and the four planned events for 2021.

Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid informed the Commission about the situation in Malaysia and their efforts which they have done in the recent months. The Covid-19 situation is not that bad in Malaysia and the country is planning to arrange two national events for the young hopes and all of their top boxers are in training camp. The members explained that in their countries they have the same good situation, their boxers are in trainings. Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid asked the members to focus on their National Youth Boxing Development Programs and proposed that each member to come out with a brief summary of their national projects in the near future. Malaysia is planning to host the 2021 Southeast Asian Youth Boxing Championships together with R&J seminars. The Chairman has the plan to arrange face-to-face Commission meeting during next year.
