Boxing Federation of India hosted a Special General Meeting where ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba also attended

The Boxing Federation of India had a Special General Meeting in New Delhi to decide a few important management and electoral questions to change the dates of their next elections. A possibility to send their elite national team for 45 days of European tour to attend events and training camps was apprised to the members of the Special General Meeting.

The original four-year tenure of the Executive Committee of the Boxing Federation of India was supposed to finish on September 25 but due to the current Covid-19 situation and travelling restrictions in the country, the office bearers can extend their legal position in the upcoming three months.

ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba attended in the Special General Meeting of Boxing Federation of India as a guest and he underlined the strong developments of the country which India achieved between 2016 and 2020.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made it difficult to conduct the elections therefore the current President of the Boxing Federation of India Mr. Ajay Singh can continue as leader of the federation still three further months until the next official elections.

Mr. Ajay Singh and his team worked hard in the recent four years to develop India’s boxing life and host top international events. after the previous cycle which finished only with three Indian quota places for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. India hosted the 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Guwahati and the 2018 AIBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships in New Delhi.

India had a successful event in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualifying Boxing Event in Amman where nine of their boxers including four girls have qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Their six-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte qualified for her second Olympic Game after the London 2012 edition.

The next edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships will be held in India in 2021 which is a strong success for the South Asian boxing power. The event is scheduled for all of the women and men weight classes and could be highlight of our continent and the next strong step in the road of the developments of the Indian boxers.
