ASBC Future Stars – Thailand’s virtuoso Thananchai Phoemsap who trains in a boxing family

Thailand’s Thananchai Phoemsap is one of the next promising talents of the Southeast Asian country which built up strong teams in the youngest age groups in the recent years. The Asian Boxing Confederation’s new PR campaign, the ASBC Future stars have been introducing the continent’s best hopes and young talents focusing to the new wave of the boxers.

Thailand’s Thananchai Phoemsap was born in the city of Buriram on January 27 in 2005 and followed his elder brother’s successes as a small child. He began boxing in 2018 with the support of one of the best Thai national coaches Mr. Poek Puengpanya who has got high number of promising young talents. Thananchai Phoemsap trains in the Nakhon Ratchasima Sport School as many of the Thai schoolboys, schoolgirls, juniors and youth boxers.

His elder brother is five-years older Atichai Phoemsap who claimed gold medal at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, at the Budapest AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and also at the Bangkok ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in 2018. Atichai is now member of the elite national team and he is aiming for a quota for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

His nickname is Dream and trains 20 hours every week to accomplish his future goals in our beloved combat sport. Thananchai Phoemsap will be only 19 by the time of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games therefore his target is mostly the next Los Angeles edition in 2028. He had very similar style as his brother Atichai and could be highly competitive in the upcoming years in the international boxing events.

The 172cm tall young talent attended at the last edition of the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Kuwait City where he showed his amazing technical skills and world class footwork. Thananchai Phoemsap lost to India’s eventual winner Yashwardhan Singh in a spectacular bout. That fight was the most difficult one for Singh who became later the Best Boxer of the Championships.
