Bekzhigit Uulu and Jongjoho made great victories in Busto Arsizio on Day2

Bekzhigit Uulu Omurbek (KGZ)in RED and Gutsaev Georgii (GEO) in BLUE compete in the Boxing Road to Paris 1st World Qualification Tournament in Busto Arsizio (ITA) in the Man’s 80kg event on 04 March 2024

Kyrgyzstan’s Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu and Thailand’s Weerapon Jongjoho were among the winners in the second competition days at the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Busto Arsizio, Italy from today.

Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the 26 participating Asian countries in Busto Arsizio.

There are 49 quota places available for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in this 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Italy.

Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan is the defending World Champion at the men’s featherweight (57kg) but he failed to qualify for the Olympics through the Asian Games. the Kazakh star was too quick for the silver medallist of the African Olympic Qualifier, Ethiopia’s Fikremariyam Yadesa Leta and he joined the last 32.

South Korea’s newcomer Shin Jae Yong competed first at the 2017 Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa but he needed seven years to reach the elite national team. The 23-year-old South Korean landed the better shots than Estonia’s Allan Morozov, and he made a good start in the Qualifier.

Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Oralbay is also World Champion as Sabyrkhan therefore his hopes are high in this Qualifier. The 23-year-old light heavyweight (80kg) boxer won all of the three rounds against Haiti’s Canada-based Cedrick Belony-Duliepre and he bowed out the first rival out of his way.

Another South Korean male boxer, their most experienced in the elite national team, their two-time World Championships competitor, Kim Jin Jea met a younger rival, Estonia’s Anton Vinogradov and he had the fighting spirit and the routine to win this light heavyweight (80kg) preliminary bout by unanimous decision.

Thailand’s World bronze medallist Weerapon Jongjoho was too tall for Lithuania’s Robertas Liorancas and he outpointed his European rival from his safest distance. Another top Asian boxer in this strong light heavyweight (80kg), Kyrgyzstan’s Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu was never stopped attacking against Georgia’s Georgi Gutsaev and he succeeded in the second competition day.

Uzbekistan’s Asian Games bronze medallist Turabek Khabibullayev is their youngest team member who had to open his campaign against a top rival, Jordan’s Asian Champion Hussein Iashaish. The 19-year-old Uzbek had longer reach and he used his technical skills well enough to beat an outstanding two-time Olympian opponent at the light heavyweight (80kg).
