Azizbekov, Gavasov and Musayatov were the bests in the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships

The Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships was held in Dushanbe which was the Central Asian boxing power’s next activity. The male winners of the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships are all talented boxers but among them Nabijon Azizbekov, Bilol Gavasov, Kanoat Musayatov, Sherdil Khamidov and Mukhammad Jaborov proved the best performances in the event.

Tajikistan competed in the Kuwait 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Schoolboys Boxing Championships where their best boxers claimed medals as well. Tajikistan amazed the Asian countries in 2019 especially at the Fujairah ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and in the Bangkok ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships.

Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006 were eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships which saw tough fights especially in the smaller male weights. More than 100 young boxers attended in the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships from all regions of the country.

Tajikistan has been preparing to the upcoming ASBC Asian Schoolgirls & Schoolboys Boxing Championships which is planning to be hosted in the month of September short after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Besides to the official Asian schoolboy weight classes, the Tajik organizers still added the 29kg and 32kg divisions.

The first gold medal of the event was achieved by Juma Shoalifov who had to beat four rivals in the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships. His most difficult bout was the final at the 29kg weight class but he was able to manage his success over Dushanbe’s Biloljon Iskanov which bout was split decision in the favour of Shoalifov.

Damir Muybalikhonov is Shoalifov’s teammate who proved enough strong performance to win the 32kg weight class after beating Khudjand’s Mekhrodj Sufijonov. One of the most difficult weight classes was the 35kg weight class which has done its debut also at the 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships. The category was won by Dushanbe’s Nabijon Azizbekov who had a narrow final against Alijon Khalifayev.

Dushanbe’s strong Ruslan Gafurov was the main favourite for the gold medal at the 37kg weight class but he suffered already an unexpected loss at the quarter-finals to Alisher Nuraliyev. The division was won by Dushanbe’s second hope Bilol Gavasov following his tight victory over Rakhmatullo Khabibulloi.

Kanoat Musayatov won all of his three contests unanimously in the national event including his 40kg final against Khasan Khuseynov. Dushanbe’s second gold medal was achieved by Sherdil Khamidov who dominated the 43kg weight class and his final against Khatlon’s Abdulbosid Sharipov. The Dushanbe-based boxers continued their winning path and their next winner was Abubakr Sharipov at the 46kg category.

Shokir Pulodov controlled also all of his fights in the national competition and claimed the title of the 49kg after beating Khatlon’s Dilovar Khakimov. At the 52kg weight class Mukhammad Jaborov of Sughd region was too strong for his final opponent, Dushanbe’s Mirzonazar Furkatjoni and the referee stopped their contest.

Rauf Fayzmamadov celebrated his success in the national event and he could be proud of his performance against Akbarjon Nazarov in the final of the 55kg. His teammate Anushervon Aknazarov earned the title of the 58kg while the heaviest categories were won by Dushanbe’s Biloljon Khusinov (61kg), Khatlon’s Yosinjon Kosimov (67kg) and Dushanbe’s Khasan Rakhmonov (+67kg).
