Asia’s stars as Thapa, Volosenko, Kashiwasaki and Okazawa all began the Olympic Games Test Event with strong triumphs

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be held next summer but the International Olympic Committee together with the local organizations arranged the Test Event in Japan’s capital city. Among the Asian stars India’s Shiva Thapa, Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volosenko and Japan’s tough trio as Tosho Kashiwasaki, Sewon Okazawa and Yuito Moriwaki all began their campaigns with successes.

The winners of the first day of boxing advanced to the semi-finals in the Test Event in Tokyo. Besides to the male boxers the women athletes also can attend in the Olympic Games Test Event in Tokyo which event was based on invitations. Among the Asian nations Kazakhstan, India, South Korea and host Japan are attending in the Test Event with world class boxers which could be a strong experience for them before the Games.

Japan’s male stars as Kashiwasaki, Okazawa and Moriwaki all started strongly in the Test Event
Japan’s Tosho Kashiwasaki claimed bronze medal at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships following the experienced boxer returned to the national team. The 28-year-old flyweight (52kg) boxer was slightly better than India’s Ananta Prashad Chopade and advanced to the last four in Tokyo. Sewon Okazawa also achieved medal at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships but it was a surprise silver therefore he could realize his first goal, defeated Brazil’s Cassio Oliveira at the welterweight (69kg). The third tough Japanese Yuito Moriwaki landed enough punches to beat United States’ Troy Isley in the quarter-finals of the middleweight (75kg).

India’s Shiva Thapa won his opening bout unanimously on Day1
India sent a strong team to the Olympic Games Test Event following their successes in the Yekaterinburg AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships and in the Ulan-Ude AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. Two-time Olympian and Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Champion Shiva Thapa has tough national rivals which increased his motivation before the important year of 2020. The 26-year-old Indian controlled all of the rounds against Japan’s Yuki Hirakawa at the lightweight (63kg) and joined to the last four in the Test Event proving his strong technical skills.

Kazakhstan’s successful debut was made by Rimma Volosenko
Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volosenko has got strong experiences in the international stage who won several tournaments in the recent three years. The 27-year-old lightweight (60kg) boxer attended in the Ulan-Ude AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships but failed to get any medals in Russia. Volosenko did not stop her training following the top event and demonstrated her strength against South Korea’s Ko Hyun Young in the quarter-finals of the division winning the fight unanimously.
