Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov used the Tajikistan National Spartakyad as last preparation before Tokyo

The men’s finals were held in the Tajikistan National Spartakyad in Dushanbe where 10 champions have been crowned. Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov used the Spartakyad as last preparation before the start of the Tokyo Olympic Games and won the title. Bakhtovar Sagizov, Abdumalik Boltayev and veteran Jakhon Kurbonov won the most anticipated finals in the Spartakyad.

Tajikistan claimed four bronze medals in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where two of their girls and boys succeeded. The national event is their next selection before the AIBA World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Belgrade, Serbia between 26 October and 6 November.

Boxers who were born in 1981 and in 2002 are eligible to attend in the Tajikistan National Spartakyad in Dushanbe. All of the regions of Tajikistan including the Badakhshan area sent boxers to the National Spartakyad. The city of Dushanbe and the Khatlon region were the best teams in the Spartakyad which saw several impressive contests.

The first gold medal of the competition was achieved by a boxer from Badakhshan, Ganchibek Shobduloyev who triumphed over Usmon Mirzoyev of Sughd region in the final of the light flyweight (49kg). Akbarali Abdurakhmanzoda claimed the gold medal in the Youth National Championships last October and the 19-year-old talent followed that pathway among the elites and defeated another young talent Emomali Rakhmon at the flyweight (52kg).

The men’s bantamweight (56kg) was one of the strongest categories in the Spartakyad which was won by Bakhtovar Sagizov who competed in the previous three editions of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. He defeated 19-year-old Khusravkhon Rakhimov in the final while two-time Youth National Champion Voris Makhmudov and returning Fayzmamad Malakhbekov were only bronze medallists.

Elchibek Niyozmamadov of Dushanbe claimed the next gold medal in the Spartakyad following his success over Bilol Kholov of Bokhtar at the lightweight (60kg). Tajikistan’s No.1, Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov used the event as his last preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games and claimed his next gold medal after beating Murid Chorshanbiyev of Badakhshan region.

Dushanbe’s Saidikrom Amonov was a reserve boxer in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and the titleholder was the favourite of the men’s welterweight (69kg). He accomplished his goal and won the title following his success against another Dushanbe-based boxer, veteran Sharaf Davlatov.

One of the most anticipated finals was held at the men’s middleweight (75kg) where Dushanbe’s Bakhtiyor Mirzomukhammed and 20-year-old Abdumalik Boltayev advanced to the title contest. Both boxers represented Tajikistan in the previous ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and the younger Boltayev gained the throne at the first time.

Dushanbe’s Nekruz Salimov and Khatlon region’s Nekruz Sharipov advanced to the final of the light heavyweight (81kg) in the absence of Tokyo Olympian Shabbos Negmatulloev and AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Akhmadjon Saidov. Salimov used his distance better in their final contest and celebrated his success after the final gong.

Davlat Boltayev and Jasurbek Kurbonov missed the Spartakyad at the heavyweight (91kg) therefore the new champion became Parviz Karimov who defeated Bakhman Rasulov in the final. Another amazing contest is scheduled at the super heavyweight (+91kg) in Dushanbe where former Asian Games, two-time Olympian 35-year-old Jakhon Kurbonov defeated Mukhammad Abroridinov and claimed his next title.
