The Asian Boxing Confederation wishes Happy Birthday to AIBA Vice-President and President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Serik Konakbayev. The Asian Boxing Confederation wishes happiness, health, power and all the bests in this important day.
Our ASBC President was very active in the Olympic year, he travelled to all important events and meetings to make the boxing world better. Mr. Serik Konakbayev visited all day of boxing in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in Qian’an, China which was the second chance for our boxers in an AOB (AIBA Open Boxing) competition to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Mr. Serik Konakbayev arrived to his home city to Pavlodar visiting ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in the first competition day in the beginning of May. He led the Press Conference before the first competition day and negotiated with the key persons of the LOC during the event and presented medals for the prize winners of the Welterweight class (69 kg) in the last competition day.
Short after the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships Mr. Konakbayev attended in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Astana where he also presented medals and negotiated with the leaders of the International Boxing Association (AIBA). Our Asian boxers proved top performance with their six gold medals in the 9th AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
He attended at the AIBA Executive Committee Meeting which was holding in Tashkent, Uzbekistan which became the capital of the sport before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The meeting was a very important step before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Tashkent where the participants discussed several topics.
As we mentioned in our communication before the competition the Asian Boxing Confederation was focusing to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games this year. Asia had finally 64 qualified boxers for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games from 17 different nations and all regions of the continent which is the result of the hard work of the managements and all National Federations. Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar did not have any boxers in the London 2012 Olympic Games but each country had competitors in Rio de Janeiro.
Asia claimed record number of 17 medals in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which is better performance in comparison to the London 2012 Olympic Games where our boxers achieved 16 podium places. Four Asian boxers won their weight classes in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which is also better performance following London where our hopes achieved three gold medals. Asia showed our continent’s development in Brazil and Mr. Serik Konakbayev and ASBC has been working with full speed to reach even better results in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
