ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba wishes Happy Hijri New Year to the whole Asian Boxing Family

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) and the Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Anas Alotaiba of the United Arab Emirates and the ASBC management wishes Happy Hijri New Year to all boxing officials, boxers, coaches, stakeholders, media members, National Federations and to the whole Asian Boxing Family.

The Hijri year is era used in the Islamic lunar calendar which begins its count in 622 CE when Muhammad and his followers moved from Mecca to Medina which event known as the Hijra. The Islamic lunar calendar has only 354 or 355 days in its year in comparison to the Gregorian year. The date of the Hijra itself did not start the Islamic New Year, the system continues the earlier ordering of the months which calendar was created in the 17 years after the Hijra. 

The Asian Boxing Community is a strong and huge family and Mr. Alotaiba wishes lots of happiness, peace and prosperity to everyone in Asia. The Asian Boxing Confederation is proud of the hard work of the Asian Boxing Family and the National Federations to develop our beloved combat sport.
