ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba congratulates to Mr. Yermakhan Ibraimov who is a new member at the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management congratulates to Kazakhstan’s Mr. Yermakhan Ibraimov who has been appointed as a new member of the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee. India’s active legend Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte is the Chairwoman of the Committee and Ibraimov can support her with strong experiences.

Mr. Yermakhan Ibraimov started his boxing career still in the era of the Soviet Union and represented the Kazakh SSR in the cadet and junior events. Ibraimov was involved to the elite team of the independent nation of Kazakhstan in 1995 and attended at the annual AIBA World Boxing Championships.

Ibraimov has done a fantastic breakthrough in the elite international stage at the Tashkent 1995 Asian Boxing Championships where he claimed the gold medal. That result got for him a quota place for the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games where he impressed once again and bagged a bronze medal for Kazakhstan.

Ibraimov achieved silver medal at the Budapest 1997 AIBA World Boxing Championships and bronze at the Houston 1999 AIBA World Boxing Championships. The Kazakh icon won the title of the Bangkok 1998 Asian Games and also earned gold at the Tashkent 1999 Asian Boxing Championships. Yermakhan Ibraimov was one of the favourites at the light middleweight (71kg) in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games where he claimed the gold medal and reached his highlight. After his boxing career he has been supporting Kazakhstan’s youth and junior team. He attended in the recent ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships as team manager and supported the preparation of the next generation of boxers in Kazakhstan.
