ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba congratulates to India’s Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte as Chairwoman of the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management congratulates to India’s national boxing icon, Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte who has been appointed as the new Chairwoman of the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee. She is all-time most successful female boxer of the world and the perfect option to lead the new committee.

India’s star Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte was born in Kangathei, Manipur on March 1 in 1983 and began boxing in 2000 when women’s boxing was established and the international events have been launched. Mary Kom is India’s national boxing icon, their diamond who is one of their most popular sportswoman in the country and has got strong media and official connections.

She is a mother and the most successful female boxer in the history of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships since 2001. Mary Kom claimed bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games but the title is missing from her collection yet. The Indian veteran achieved bronze at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and secured her spot for the Tokyo Olympics on March 2020.

India’s six-time AIBA Women’s World Champion and five-times ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte competed at the 35th Boxam International Boxing Tournament in Castellon de la Plana, Spain a few weeks ago where she earned bronze medal. She was so excited to return to the international boxing events following her many health difficulties.

“I am so excited once again after my return in the Boxam Tournament and I am now the Chairwoman of the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee which is a new project in my life. I am looking forward to serve Olympic boxing in every level and in all corner of the world. I approved this new position with great honour as I have been serving and supporting boxing since my childhood. I tried to support my community in India with my best knowledge and I hope I can do more in this new fantastic role,” commented her new position India’s national boxing icon Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte.
