ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba congratulates to Chinese Taipei’s two-time ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting to her new appointment

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management congratulates to Chinese Taipei’s AIBA Women’s World Champion and ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting who has been appointed as a new member at the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee. Lin is one of the main favourites to get the gold medal at the women’s featherweight (57kg) in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

Lin Yu Ting was born in Taoyuan City on December 13 in 1995 and began boxing before her 13th birthday in 2008. Lin Yu Ting won her first national titles as a schoolgirl in 2008 and after four years of high school experiences, she competed at the 2012 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships before her 17th birthday.

Her first international experiences paid off at the 2013 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Bulgaria where she won Chinese Taipei’s first ever world title. Lin Yu Ting won her first big elite event, the 2017 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City.

She claimed the title of the bantamweight (54kg) also at the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships using her long distance tactic and outstanding counter-attacking style against Bulgaria’s Stoyka Petrova. Lin Yu Ting won Chinese Taipei’s first ever gold medal in the history of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Following those ASBC and AIBA events successes, Lin moved up to the Olympic featherweight (57kg) and claimed her next continental title at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships after beating Thailand’s tall Nilawan Techasuep. Lin achieved bronze medal at the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Lin Yu Ting was only 24 by the time of the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event where she eliminated all of her main rivals in the road to the finals. She met with Japan’s two-time AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Sena Irie but her impressive footwork delivered a clear success and gold medal for Chinese Taipei in Amman, Jordan on March 2020.
