ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Mrs. Dariga Shakimova’s family

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Anas Alotaiba, furthermore and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Kazakhstan’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist Dariga Shakimova family following her mother Mrs. Zeynep Shakimova passed away at the age of 60.

Dariga Shakimova was born in Petropavlovsk, North Kazakhstan during the era of the Soviet Union on November 20 in 1988. She began her boxing career in 2007 at the age of 19 when women’s boxing in Kazakhstan was rapidly spread around the regions. After one year of experience in the sport, she was involved to the national team and attended at the ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in Guwahati and at the annual AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Ningbo City.

Her first career highlight was a gold medal at the Astana 2010 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships and the next one a silver at the 2011 Olympic Test Event. She claimed her second gold at the ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in 2015 but her best ever result is a bronze medal from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where she attended successfully at the middleweight (75kg). Shakimova earned bronze medal in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in Bangkok one year ago.

Mrs. Zeynep Shakimova was born on November 19 in 1960 and following she gave birth to Dariga, supported her daughter’s boxing career and their relationship was unique.

May her soul will rest in peace in Kazakhstan.
