ASBC medallists shined in the women’s finals at the Mongolian Elite National Championships

The women finals took place at the Mongolian Elite National Championships in Ulaanbaatar where ten mostly young talents earned their important titles. The National Championships was the selection for the Women’s World Boxing Championships and their top boxers such as Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg, Yesugen Oyuntsetseg, Monkhor Namuun and Tugsjargal Nomin-Erdene won gold medals in Ulaanbaatar.

The Mongolians competed successfully at the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand and their youngsters were not able to rest in the recent weeks due to the busy schedule. The number of the female elite boxers was 56 in the National Championships in Ulaanbaatar and all of the top clubs represented the event.  

The Mongolian girls reached excellent results in the recent ASBC Championships and their skills are rapidly progressed. One of their most experienced boxers, the 29-year-old Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg moved down to the minimumweight (48kg) and she earned the national title following her success over an U22 boxer, Janarguli Byeisyenbyei.  

Nergui Oyun-Erdene, another veteran was the seed No.1 at the light flyweight (50kg) but she was defeated by a younger hope, Balsan Mungunsaran in the final. The ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze finisher Yesugen Oyuntsetseg accomplished her goals at the flyweight (52kg) and defeated Aldar’s Purevdorj Khulan in the final.

The bantamweight (54kg) had three top international boxers in the National Championships, such as Munguntsetseg Enkhjargal, Battur Zoljargal and Erdenedalai Michidmaa. Among them the ASBC Asian U22 Champion Enkhjargal earned the national title after beating Michidmaa by 3:2 split decision in the final.

Another ASBC medallist, the multiple National Champion Monkhor Namuun dominated the featherweight (57kg), she stopped her final opponent, Erdenebileg Tsendsuren. The silver medallist from Amman, the 19-year-old Tugsjargal Nomin-Erdene defeated her main national rival, another well-known talent, Ganzorig Badmaarag in the final of the lightweight (60kg).

Veteran Uranbileg Shinetsetseg (63kg), the 19-year-old Myagmarsuren Tsetsegdari (66kg), Erdenetsogt Namuun (70kg), and Namjim Anu (75kg) won the remaining titles.

The Mongolian girls will spend in the upcoming weeks in training camps before the start of the Women’s World Boxing Championships.
