ASBC Heroes – Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Yerassyl Yermek who remained unbeaten in 2019

Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Yermek won the title of the men’s featherweight (57kg) at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships following his international tournament titles. Kazakhstan has got tough junior and youth talents and among them Yerassyl Yermek was one of our ASBC Hero in 2019 with his unbeaten series through five big events.

Yerassyl Yermek was born in the city of Karagandy on February 11 in 2004 where he began his boxing career at the age of 10. Karagandy hosts the strong Galym Zharylgapov International Memorial Tournament every year and has got high number of boxing gyms. Her first big success was a title at the 2018 edition of the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships.

The Kazakhstan Junior National Boxing Championships was held in the city of Oskemen on February 2019. Karagandy’s Schoolboys National Champion Yerassyl Yermek was only a newcomer in the junior age group but his technical skills were enough to beat all of his opponents including another Schoolboys National Champion Taraz’s Aidaulet Samak at the featherweight (57kg).

Yermek was involved to the junior national team after his national success and won the title at the Emil Zhechev Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria beating Indian and Kazakh rivals. Yermek won the gold medals also in the Makanalin & Nokerbekov & Satenov Junior Memorial Tournament in Balkhash, Kazakhstan. The 15-year-old Kazakh talent continued his winning series at the Junior Nations Cup in Vrbas, Serbia where he defeated all of his four opponents including Russian boxers as well.

Yermek opened his next campaign in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships with a triumph over Chinese Taipei’s Chang Jen I which was a closer bout than he expected. He eliminated Iran’s Abolfazl Faridi and China’s Chen Xinlin during his road to the final of the continental event.

Kazakhstan’s first gold at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships was achieved by Ruslan Kuzeubayev. Their second title in the continental event was taken by Yerassyl Yermek in the final day of the event at the featherweight (57kg) where he faced with Uzbekistan’s Bilolbek Ikhvolov who spent his first year among the junior boxers. The Kazakh boxer felt the tempo slightly better than his Uzbek opponent, he was better in the exchanges and became champion at the age of 15 in Fujairah.
