ASBC Heroes – Kazakhstan’s 17-year-old Ruslan Kuzeubayev who won four big events in 2019

Kazakhstan’s Ruslan Kuzeubayev won the light bantamweight (52kg) at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in the United Arab Emirates where he won four contests to get the title. Kuzeubayev impressed also in other international junior events and he was our ASBC Hero in 2019.

Ruslan Kuzeubayev was born in the East Kazakhstan region on April 28 in 2003 and began boxing at the age of 10 as many of his teammates. He is only 17-year-old in our present days but his technical skills are world class, he can switch his stance several times during a bout which made strong advantage to him.

Kuzeubayev won the gold medal at the Makanalin & Nokerbekov & Satenov Junior Memorial Tournament in 2018 where he defeated his strong teammate Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbay Uulu in the final of the light flyweight (48kg). His opponent became ASBC Asian Youth Champion in Ulaanbaatar last November which shows the importance of that success.

He achieved the title at the Suleimenov Junior Tournament in Ayagoz at the flyweight (50kg) after beating all of his four opponents. The Kazakhstan Junior National Boxing Championships was held in the city of Oskemen which is well-known about its former name, Ust-Kamenogorsk. He was the favourite of the flyweight (50kg) which he realized in the city of Oskemen and he defeated all of his rivals in the national event.

Kuzeubayev achieved silver medal in the Emil Zhechev Junior Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria in 2019 following his national success. The Kazakh boxer won the gold medal at the 2019 Makanalin & Nokerbekov & Satenov Junior Memorial Tournament and took the title also at the Junior Nations Cup in Serbia before the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.

He eliminated China’s Xiao Yi in the first preliminary round in Fujairah and he had also the dominancy over Iraq’s Mohammed Anwer Makasses in the quarter-finals of his weight class. Kuzeubayev advanced to the finals of the continental event following his success over Uzbekistan’s Gofurjon Tokhirov. Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships was achieved by Ruslan Kuzeubayev at the light bantamweight (52kg) following he was able to beat Tajikistan’s technician Abubakr Murodov in a hectic final contest.
