ASBC Future Stars – Iraq’s super heavyweight talent Barq Ashraf Sabah

Iraq’s Barq Ashraf Sabah is a super heavyweight (+91kg) talent who is aiming to get top international results in the upcoming years. The 23-year-old boxer is one of the possible ASBC Future Stars who has been working hard to achieve the highest level of boxing. The Asian Boxing Confederation’s new PR campaign, the ASBC Future stars have been introducing the continent’s best hopes and young talents.

Barq Ashraf Sabah was born in Iraq’s capital in Baghdad in 1997 and started his boxing career at the age of 13. He began boxing in 2010 with coach Mr. Farouk Jawad who competed and reached the quarter-finals at the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games and supports the new generation of boxers in Iraq to accomplish their goals.

He won the 2012 Iraqi Junior National Championships after two years of experiences in the sport and continued his strong results in the next age group. Sabah won the title of the super heavyweight (+91kg) at the 2014 Iraqi Youth National Championships which was his next career highlight. Sabah claimed silver medal at the 2015 Iraqi Youth National Championships and bronze among the elites in the same year.

Barq Ashraf Sabah achieved bronze, silver and gold medals in the Iraqi Elite National Championships in the recent five years in various locations in Basra, in Al-Kut, in Karbala, and in Najaf. Sabah is member of the Iraqi national team and he is aiming for a place in their top squad after 10 years of experiences in the sport. Sabah won 35 out of his 40 fights in Iraq and in the Western Asian region but he concentrates now to higher level of boxing. Sabah is ready to attend in the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and also in the AIBA World Boxing Championships and Olympic Qualification Events in the near future to show his energetic boxing.
