ASBC experiences delivered the second success for Theena Thayalan in the Malaysian National Games

The Malaysian National Games was the most important competition of the Southeast Asian country in 2018 which saw six competition day and high number of bouts. Malaysia’s super talented welterweight (69kg) boxer Theena Thayalan Raja Selvan delivered the best performance in the Games and defended his throne.
Perak was the host of the Malaysian National Games which is located in the Northern region of the country near to the boarder of Thailand. The Malaysian National Games has been holding every two years, the last edition was hosted by the city of Kuching in 2016. Sukma is the official name of the Games in Malayan language and the younger U21 age group boxers could attend in the Malaysian National Games in Perak.
The first title among the nine gold medals was achieved by National Games silver medallist Mohamed Arif Bin Razuhat who eliminated the defending champion Muhamad Sharif in the semi-final in a close bout but after he was too strong for Muhammad Amran Bin Abd Ghani in the final of the light flyweight (49kg). Malaysia reached its best ever performance in this division therefore their new talented boxers in the lowest category need to be watched in the future international events.
The flyweight (52kg) is always a strong category in Malaysia which was won by Southeast Asian Youth Championships competitor 19-year-old Amirul Hakim Bin Sakila after beating Muhammad Khairul Hakimy Bin Abdullah in the final. The next title was achieved by Khairul Azim Bin Nasir at the bantamweight (56kg) following his performance against National Golden Gloves silver medallist Daeloniel Mcdelon Bong.
Malaysia National Cup silver medallist Mohammad Akram Bin Rasit had successful youth career and now he moved ahead into the next step and won the title of the lightweight (60kg) in the Games beating Bah Angin Hasnizam. The light welterweight (64kg) title went to Halim Izani Sulaiman who controlled his final fight against Muhammad Adnan Bin Jemain in Perak which gold medal is his career highlight.
Theena Thayalan Raja Selvan arrived to the Malaysian National Games as the top favourite of the welterweight (69kg). The 21-year-old boxer attended in the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and he is famous of his power and KO victories. Thayalan defeated all of his four rivals by large margin of differences in the Games including Muhammad Asuad Muhammad Halim in the final and became the lone one who could defend his throne after the Kuching edition.
Mohamed Aswan Bin Che Azmi exceeded the expectations and defeated the favourite of the middleweight (75kg) Wan Muhammad Hanif in Perak. Ranjit Ravinder Singh Maan claimed silver medal in the last Kuching edition of the Games two years ago and moved down to the light heavyweight (81kg) which decision delivered for him a gold medal after beating Mohammad Noor Shaharul Bin Mohamed Saidin.
Record number of nine boxers attended at the heavyweight (91kg) in the Malaysian National Games which was the highest category in Perak. Prem Kumar worked more than Muhammad Syahriman Bin Zahir and delivered the better punches which means he claimed the last title of the National Games.
