ASBC competitors as Pavithran Rajini Kant and Joel Evekly Jain claimed gold medals in the Malaysian Youth National Championships

The Malaysian Youth National Championships was held for the male boxers in their capital city in Kuala Lumpur. Nine champions have been crowned in the Malaysian Youth National Championships and among them Muhammad Haizad Haiqal Bin Johan and Davinesh Muniandy defended their thrones. ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships competitors as Pavithran Rajini Kant and Joel Evekly Jain both won their weight classes in the event.

The Malaysian event was held in nine categories from weight the light flyweight (49kg) up to the heavyweight (91kg) in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia’s top future hope Muhammad Rasdenal Haikal dominated the previous Malaysian junior and youth national events but he joined to the elite age group this January.

One of the best hopes at the 2003 age group, Penang’s ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships competitor Pavithran Rajini Kant won the gold medal at the 2019 Malaysian Junior National Championships and moved up to the youth competitions a few weeks ago. The 16-year-old light flyweight (49kg) boxer had a tough semi-final against Muhammad Denial and following that close success, he dominated his final over Muhammad Farihin Akil Bin Hamidon.

ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships competitor Joel Evekly Jain was the main favourite of the flyweight (52kg) and he realized his golden dreams following his success over Najmuddin Bin Abdul Rahdian in the final. Muhammad Ridzuan Bin Mohamed Johari claimed bronze medal at the 2019 Malaysian Youth National Championships and remained at the bantamweight (56kg). The Perak-based boxer changed that into a gold after beating Mohamed Faiz in the final of the Nationals.

Johor’s Muhammad Haizad Haiqal Bin Johan won the title of the lightweight (60kg) at the 2019 edition of the Malaysian Youth National Championships and he repeated that success in Kuala Lumpur as well defending his throne over Sabah’s Rosshazmie Bin Roslan. Penang’s next talent Sridhar Gobi Nathan impressed at the welterweight (69kg) and dominated all of his fights in Kuala Lumpur including the final over Muhammad Fakrul Hakeem Bin Mohamed Radzi. Penang’s third gold medal was achieved by 17-year-old Danaraj Anantha Selvam who had a close final against Adam Iskandar Muhamad Radzi at the middleweight (75kg).

Penang’s 18-year-old Davinesh Muniandy dominated the light heavyweight (81kg) at the 2019 Malaysian Youth National Championships and he repeated that performance in Kuala Lumpur as well. He won his first national title still back in 2017 therefore his dominancy over Muhamad Shahqirin Bin Omar was not a surprise.
