ASBC Asian Junior Champions as Abzal Serik and Sultan Babakhanov both won their contests by RSC at the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships on Day4

A long competition day with forty contests have been held in the fourth session of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships which continued in the city of Almaty. ASBC Asian Junior Champions as Abzal Serik and Sultan Babakhanov won their contests by RSC still in the first round of their battles.

The boxers at the bantamweight (56kg), at the lightweight (60kg), at the light welterweight (64kg), at the welterweight (69kg) and at the middleweight (75kg) were in action in the fourth competition day at the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships. The winners advanced to the quarter-finals of the national event in each weight category.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in the first national event of the year. The event is preparation and selection before the main international goals of the year including the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24.

Split decisions at the bantamweight (56kg) between young hopes

Atyrau region’s Bekzat Konysbay was the favourite against Almaty’s Bekbolsyn Yerkinuly but he had to do his very best to beat his opponent in the fourth competition day. Shymkent’s Asylbek Abdizhappar had a tough battle against Pavlodar region’s Aizat Shakenov which was another split decision success at the bantamweight (56kg). Turkestan region’s Abdygalym Abdikarim was slightly better than Karagandy region’s Tursynbek Tazhibayev and won another difficult contest.

Suyunbay and Kuzeubayev continued their winning path at the lightweight (60kg)

Dzhambul region’s Elnur Suyunbay is one of the gold medal contenders at the lightweight (60kg) who won his second contest on Day4 which was a quick challenge for him. The 17-year-old boxer landed lethal punches against Kostanay region’s Eldarkhan Agatanov and the referee confirmed his RSC triumph in the beginning of the second round. ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Ruslan Kuzeubayev also dominated his second bout in Almaty, eliminating Nurbol Yakhiyakhanov of Mangystau region. 

Nurashev, Satzhanov and Serik impressed at the light welterweight (64kg)

Karagandy region’s Altair Nurashev caused a tough surprise in the previous preliminary round and that increased the motivation of the young boxer. Nurashev eliminated Tamerlan Aktan as second and advanced to the quarter-finals of the weight category. Bauyrzhan Satzhanov won international junior events in the previous years, therefore he was too experienced for Pavlodar region’s Nurdaulet Dauletov. The main favourite of the weight category, ASBC Asian Junior Champion Abzal Serik of Shymkent spent 106 seconds in the ring to stop Arnur Tileuberdi of Almaty.

Karsakov, Zhandarbek and Temirbay were the bests at the welterweight (69kg)

Almaty’s Merey Karsakov won his first contest on Day2 and continued his winning series against one of the gold medal contenders, Nur-Sultan’s Nurkadam Abdresh. Turkestan region’s Adilzhan Zhandarbek was member of the Kazakh junior national team previously and has done great work against Nauryzbay Saduakas. Shymkent’s Bekarys Temirbay proved strong developments and stopped Serikzhan Salimgereyev on Day4.

Sultan Babakhanov is the star of the middleweight (75kg)  

Dzhambul region’s Sultan Babakhanov won all of his national and international contests as a junior boxer in 2019. Following three international tournament titles, he won the gold medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships with strong dominancy over all of his opponents. He moved up to the middleweight (75kg) but adopted the strength of the punches quickly in the recent months. Babakhanov won his last 16 contest by RSC over Kostanay region’s Suleyman Suleymanov still in the first round.
