ASBC Asian Champion Nguyen Thi Tam dominated the Vietnamese Women’s National Championships

The Vietnamese Women’s National Championships was held in the recent days where eleven champions have been crowned. The event was a strong selection tournament for the upcoming big events and their female No.1 ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Nguyen Thi Tam claimed the gold medal of the flyweight (51kg) with world class performance.
Vietnam’s best boxers will be attending at the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in October. The Southeast Asian Games will be their next target which is scheduled to be held in Manila, Philippines this December. The Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualifiers will be held in Wuhan, China on February 3-13 and the National Championships was selection also for these future targets.
The first gold medal of the Vietnamese Women’s National Championships was taken by Le Thi Bich Lien of An Giang who defeated Le Thi Mai of Hanoi in the final of the pinweight (45kg). Trinh Thi Diem Kieu is an experienced light flyweight (48kg) boxer who competed in the last editions of the ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships and remained on the throne of the division following her success over Indonesian President’s Cup bronze medallist Vo Thi Kim Anh.
Nguyen Thi Tam is Vietnam’s top female boxer who claimed the gold medal at the Ho Chi Minh City 2017 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships. The Vietnamese flyweight (51kg) boxer dominated all of her contests in the national event and proved her amazing technical skills in the final against 19-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Tram.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Do Nha Uyen turned to 20 this year and in spite of her low number of bouts and experiences, she defeated Hai Phong’s favourite Nguyen Thanh Thuy in the final of the bantamweight (54kg). Thai Binh’s Do Thi Trang is another young hope in Vietnam’s boxing life who is only 19 but impressed in the final of the featherweight (57kg) against Binh Duong’s Tran Tuyet Nga.
Following her ASBC medals, Ha Thi Linh of Hanoi achieved bronze medal in the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament this July. She moved down to the lightweight (60kg) and the her strong international experienced led her to the throne of the category claiming her next national title after beating 19-year-old Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich of Dak Lak.
Do Thi Mai attended already in the Taipei 2015 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships and her change to move up to the light welterweight (64kg), delivered for her a national title following her victory over Nguyen Thi Uoc. Hoang Ngoc Mai is a 19-year-old talent from Hanoi who defeated Tran Yen Nhi in the final of the welterweight (69kg).
Tien Giang’s ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist strong Tran Thi Oanh Nhi moved down two divisions in the recent one year and she is currently Vietnam’s best middleweight (75kg) boxer who has a tough success over experienced 29-year-old Nguyen Thi Tuyet.
ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist Nguyen Thi Huong has been selected to attend in the Ulan-Ude AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships therefore she dominated the light heavyweight (81kg). The last title of the National Championships was taken by Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoai who defeated her main rival Ca Thi Huyen in the final of the heavyweight (+81kg) once again on their re-match.
