Alqathi and Abdu Saeed accomplished their goals in the Yemen Youth National Boxing Championships

The Yemen National Boxing Championships was a four-day long competition which supported the country’s management to find new talents for the upcoming international events. Their most experienced youth talents such as Naseem Hussain Ahmed Alqathi and Mustafa Mohammed Abdu Saeed both won their weight classes in Yemen.
Yemen is a developing boxing country where the number of the boxers is less than 1000 but the fighting spirit and stamina of their athletes are exemplar. The President of the Yemen Boxing Federation Mr. Raed Ali Noman and his staff are working hard to develop our sport in the Arabic country.
Yemen sent boxers to the 2016 Children of Asia Games and to the 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships where their young talents showed their potential. Yemen’s best talents attended in the recent two editions of the Arab Youth Boxing Championships where the country claimed a historical gold medal in 2017 following Sil Ghaleb Mohammad Al-Qarnas won the light flyweight (49kg) in Cairo.
The first gold medal of the Yemen Youth National Championships was achieved by Al-Mina’s Mahmood Yasin Ali who defeated Mohammad Mansour Naser in the final of the light flyweight (49kg). Shamsan won the team rankings of the national event and their first gold medallist was Adlee Adnan Mohammed who triumphed over Yazn Nasr Ali Ahmed in the final of the men’s flyweight (52kg).
The third gold medal of the Yemen Youth National Championships was taken by Shamsan’s Bader Ahmad Yahia who controlled his final against Salim Abdullah Salim at the bantamweight (56kg). Shamsan’s Naseem Hussain Ahmed Alqathi attended in the 2018 Arab Youth Boxing Championships in Cairo and his international experiences paid off when he met with Mohammed Abdulkader in the final of the lightweight (60kg).
Mustafa Mohammed Abdu Saeed claimed bronze medal in the 2017 Arab Youth Boxing Championships at the bantamweight (56kg). The 18-year-old talent competed also in the 2018 Arab Youth Boxing Championships in the Egyptian capital but at the light welterweight (64kg). Yemen’s most experienced youth boxer controlled his final against Abdulmuhaimn Hussain and claimed his next national title.
Al Telal’s Abdullah Ghassan Rashad delivered the main sensation of the whole event in the final of the welterweight (69kg) where he reached his career highlight. The 17-year-old boxer defeated the favourite Arab Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mohammed Mansour Mohammed Ali Zaid for the sixth title of the event.
