Aliev, Kira, Petrov and Zokirov shined in the quarter-finals of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships

The last part of the quarter-finals was held in the fifth competition at the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates today where all of the winners are now guaranteed medallists. Kyrgyzstan’s Khalit Aliev, Japan’s Daiya Kira and Uzbekistan’s duo Login Petrov and Jakhongir Zokirov were the bests in the fifth day of boxing.

The number of the countries is record number of 26 in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates where boxers who were born in 2003 or in 2004 are eligible to attend. The number of the boxers is also record breaking 239 altogether including 170 male and 69 female athletes in Fujairah.

Uzbekistan’s Anvar Boltaboyev had a tough quarter-final against his Iranian opponent on Day5
Uzbekistan’s Anvar Boltaboyev had a tough national rival at the flyweight (50kg) but finally he fought out his place against Chyrchyk’s Aydos Tagaybayev. The 15-year-old Uzbek is spending his first year among the juniors but he is a top talent who reached excellent international results. The Uzbek boxer had difficulties in the first round against Iran’s Amirmohsen Orjalizadeh but he returned with top shots in the second and better performance. The final verdict was depended on their exchanges in the third when Boltaboyev was able to keep his control and eliminate a technician Iranian in Fujairah.

Southeast Asian power at the male pinweight (46kg)
Philippines’ has got strong traditions in the smallest weight class in all levels of boxing and their current junior hope Eljay Pamisa worked well to beat Chinese Taipei’s best male talent Hsu Po Hao in the quarter-final of the pinweight (46kg). The nest strong Southeast Asian performance was delivered by Thailand’s Khon Kaen Junior National Games winner Thanakon Aonyaem who landed more punches than South Korea’s Park Min Jun which means he is also a guaranteed medallist in Fujairah.

Japan’s Daiya Kira impressed in his first contest and advanced to the last four
Japan’s Daiya Kira claimed gold medal at the Bornemissza Junior Memorial Tournament in Eger, Hungary this June where he proved amazing performance. The Japanese flyweight (50kg) boxer controlled the first round against a competitive rival, Mongolia’s Dorjnyambuu Ganbold on Day5. The 16-year-old Japanese looked quicker than his Mongolian opponent and overcome Ganbold in the attacks during the exchanges. Kira felt the tempo well in their top fight which was one of the best ones in the afternoon session and Japan’s pride advanced to the semi-finals in Fujairah.

Tajikistan’s Abdurakhim Yokubov and Iran’s Mohammad Parsi joined to the last four at the bantamweight (54kg)
Tajikistan’s Abdurakhim Yokubov is only 15 and he is spending his first year in the junior age group but the Central Asian is already an experienced boxer with strong international results. The Tajik bantamweight (54kg) boxer was too strong for Bhutan’s Kinley and the referee stopped their contest in the second round. In the same weight class Iran’s Mohammad Parsi used his longer reach well with Palestine’s Bashar Soufan on Day5. Palestine’s experienced junior boxer found his best rhythm in the second and caught his taller Iranian opponent in their spectacular battle but Parsi increased also his tempo and won their fight.

Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov continued the family tradition
Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov arrived to the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships with excellent pedigree and several international tournament titles which he won in the recent months. The Uzbek heavyweight (+80kg) boxer is the son of Lazizbek Zokirov who competed in the Budapest 1997 AIBA World Boxing Championships. Zokirov had a few difficulties in the first round against his main Asian rival, India’s Vishal Gupta but he increased his rhythm and controlled the second and last periods. The referee counted also the Indian therefore Zokirov advanced to the semi-finals in Fujairah.

China’s Liu Yuhang knocked out her Uzbek rival but Nigina Uktamova was also impressed in the female quarter-finals
China’s Junior National Games winner Liu Yuhang spent less than one round in the ring when she met with Uzbekistan’s Anorakhon Melieva. The Chinese welterweight (66kg) boxer launched a lethal body punch and delivered the first KO success of the whole championship. In another female contest Uzbekistan’s Khayrutdinov Women’s Junior Memorial Tournament winner Nigina Uktamova controlled her fight against Tajikistan’s 15-year-old talent Bibinashastamo Kholova who landed also tough punches in their fight on Day5.

Japan’s second finalist in Fujairah is Yuga Ozaki
Japan’s Yuga Ozaki had an excellent triumph in the first preliminary round of the light flyweight (48kg) but he had to do better performance in the quarter-finals against China’s Wu Haotian. The 16-year-old Japanese ruled the middle of the ring in the first round and landed nice right-handed jabs in the opening period. His Chinese opponent landed also a few good punches mainly in the third round but Ozaki’s dominance was continued until the end of the final gong. Following their junior No.1 Daiya Kira, Yuga Ozaki also advanced to the semi-finals in Fujairah.

Kazakhstan’s Ruslan Kuzeubayev and Uzbekistan’s Gofurjon Tokhirov dominated their quarter-final fights at the light bantamweight (52kg)
Kazakhstan’s Ruslan Kuzeubayev has done an impressive record in the international junior events this year and controlled his quarter-final from the first seconds in Fujairah. The 16-year-old Kazakh light bantamweight (52kg) boxer eliminated his Iraqi opponent, Mohammed Anwar Makassees in the fifth day of boxing. Another Central Asian boxer Gofurjon Tokhirov won his third bout in Fujairah where he defeated Nepal’s 15-year-old Raban Ali Khan unanimously. Nepal’s young talent had only four bouts before the championship but he was able to box until the final gong against his top Uzbek rival.

Uzbekistan’s No.1 Login Petrov eliminated his main Kazakh rival at the light middleweight (70kg)
Uzbekistan’s Login Petrov is one of their best boxers in the junior national team who is almost unbeaten during his whole career. The Uzbek light middleweight (70kg) boxer’s father is his coach who has been working hard together to get top results in the international stages. Petrov had a tough rival in the quarter-finals, Kazakhstan’s Rakhymzhan Shanzharkhan who tried to move more on feet than his Uzbek opponent. The 16-year-old Petrov attacked from the first seconds and his impressive shots shocked the Kazakh in the second. Petrov worked better also in the third against the top rival and advanced to the last four as 12th Uzbek.

Kyrgyzstan’s Khalit Aliev eliminated the first Uzbek male boxer in Fujairah
Kyrgyzstan’s Khalit Aliev won international tournaments and defeated tough Kazakh, Uzbek and Azeri boxers during these events in the recent one year. The Kyrgyz light heavyweight (80kg) boxer was No.2 in the 2018 ASBC Best of the Junior Asians which made him as favourite against Uzbekistan’s Abdulla Almamatov. The Kyrgyz tried to control the bout from the first exchanges and launched stronger punches than Almamatov. The referee counted the Uzbek in the second round who worked also well but Aliev’s strength decided their contest which means the Kyrgyz advanced to the semi-finals.
