Akkalykov, Abdresh and Prikhodko were the stars at the Mamazhanov & Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament

The Asylbek Mamazhanov & Viktor Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament was held in the city of Zhezkazgan which is located in the Karagandy region of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan’s next generation’s top boxers as Sabyrzhan Akkalikov, 16-year-old Nurkadam Abdresh, multiple international tournament winner Yevgeniy Prikhodko and Georgiy Aushev all won their divisions.

Kazakhstan’s traditional event supported the next generation of youth boxers to increase their international experiences. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 were eligible to compete in the Asylbek Mamazhanov & Viktor Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament which means the athletes who will be attending in this age group in 2020, attended in the event.

Sanzhar Tashkenbay became the first winner in the event who defeated Kaynar Sabit in the final of the pinweight (46kg). Nurbolot Bogdeshov competed in smaller events in Kazakhstan but his skills developed fast to beat Tajikistan’s Youth National Champion Sorbon Karimov in the final of the light flyweight (49kg).

The flyweight (52kg) title was won by Nur-Sultan’s Batyrlan Batyrbayev who eliminated Yerzhan Kabykenov in the third final of the tournament. Uzbekistan’s lone gold medal was captured by Shakhboz Yunusaliyev who is a 17-year-old talent and worked strongly to beat Kazakhstan’s Vyacheslav Salibayev.

Arman Sagyn has got also strong experiences from previous events, his career highlight was repeated in the Mamazhanov & Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament where he was enough strong to beat Yersultan Olzhabay. Sabyrzhan Akkalikov was reserve boxer in the Kazakh national team which attended in the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships therefore he was too experienced for Aytauar Zhaben.  

Nur-Sultan’s Nurkadam Abdresh was near to get the top junior team in Kazakhstan following his plenty of medals in the national and international competitions therefore his success over Uzbekistan’s Elmurad Mirzakhmedov was not a surprise at the welterweight (69kg). Nikita Borovikov has got strong experiences from international events as a junior boxer who moved up to the middleweight (75kg) and defeated Ayan Sabyrzhanov in the final.

Karagandy’s Yevgeniy Prikhodko won high number of junior events during his career following he won the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships in 2016. The 17-year-old light heavyweight (81kg) boxer joined to the youth age group and dominated all of his fights in Zhezkazgan including his final over Erkhat Bekzat.  

Karagandy’s Georgiy Aushev was born in 2002 but he has got already many experiences from international tournaments and claimed titles in the junior competitions. The 17-year-old boxer competed several times out of Kazakhstan which paid off in his heavyweight (91kg) final against Temirlan Amanbek of Nur-Sultan.
