AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Zhantoro Tashiyev earned his first elite title in Kyrgyzstan

The new edition of the Kyrgyz Elite National Championships was held in Bishkek to select the best boxers of the country for both genders. AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Zhantoro Tashiyev became the best boxer, Mr. Mukash Yrsaliev the best R&J and Mr. Akyikat Abayev the best coach of the Kyrgyz National Championships.

The number of the participating elite boxers was 134 including 11 girls in the Kyrgyz National Championships. All of the Kyrgyz regions and cities attended in the national event where Bishkek had the largest team with 36 boxers. Following the regional selections and the Bishkek City Boxing Championships, their best elite female and male boxers could compete for the medals and prizes in the national event.

The event was a selection for the upcoming AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Belgrade, Serbia on October 24 – November 6. The women’s part of the Kyrgyz National Championships was also selection for them to the AIBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships and at the first historical ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships.

Boxers who were born between 1981 and 2002 were eligible to attend in the Kyrgyz Elite National Championships. The women boxers could compete in 12 different weight categories: 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 81 and +81kg. The new male weight categories also introduced in Kyrgyzstan: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63.5kg, 67kg, 71kg, 75kg, 80kg, 86kg, 92kg, and +92kg.

The first female gold medal was achieved by 19-year-old Aynazyk Rustambek Kyzy who defeated the more experienced Aigerim Danigulova and Saida Kerimbayeva at the light bantamweight (52kg). Shakhriza Khalilova is a veteran female boxer who returned with a gold medal after beating 18-year-old Zhamila Ulanova in the final of the bantamweight (54kg). The remaining women’s titles were achieved by Batken region’s Begaiym Akbalayeva (63kg) and Bishkek’s Sabina Duishonova (75kg) in the national event.

ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mirlan Turkbay Uulu is one of the most experienced Kyrgyz male boxers but the 31-year-old veteran had to do his very best to take his next national title at the light flyweight (48kg). Turkbay Uulu was slightly better than 19-year-old Anvar Khodzhiyev who competed successfully at the 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.

Kyrgyzstan’s Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games bronze medallist Azat Usenaliev is in top form this year, he won several international tournaments but the 30-year-old flyweight (51kg) boxer never qualified to any Olympic Games yet. Usenaliev decided to continue his career and earned his next national title after beating Nurzhigit Dyushebayev in the final by unanimous decision.

Sanzhar Seidakmatov is a top talent who moved down to the new bantamweight (54kg) and celebrated his first elite national title following his success over Baktybek Sadyrbek Uulu. Akylbek Esenbek Uulu claimed several medals in the international stage this year including at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships therefore he was too experienced for Zhenishbek Belasharov.

Osh’s Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu has got eight years of international experiences which paid off against promising 20-year-old Rysbek Bektenov in the final of the lightweight (60kg). AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Zhantoro Tashiyev eliminated a teenage rival, Askhat Kultayev in the semi-finals and continued his winning path against Mirzokhid Imamnazarov. The 19-year-old Tashiyev used his strong punches to decide his contests and became also the best boxer of the national event.

Bishkek’s Zhakshylyk Talaybekov caused a top sensation in the first preliminary round when he eliminated National Champion Dmitriy Puchnin and defeated his further three rivals at the welterweight (67kg). Dzhalal-Abad region’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Nuradin Rustambek Uulu was confident in the whole national event and triumphed over Zharkynbek Turatov in the final of the light middleweight (71kg).

Islamzhan Dalibayev achieved bronze medal at the 2010 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and after a long break, he returned to the National Championships and won the middleweight (75kg) against 22-year-old Daniyar Omurbek Uulu. Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu is member of the elite national team since 2019 and the strong puncher destroyed Aibek Akmatbekov in the final of the light heavyweight (80kg).

Bishkek’s Rio 2016 Olympian 30-year-old Erkin Adylbek Uulu used his longer reach in the final of the cruiserweight (86kg) against Bakyt Toktosun Uulu and won his next national title. The national team member of the heavyweight (92kg) Rustam Yrysbek Uulu stopped all of his three opponents in the National Championships including Daniyar Orozbekov in the final. The super heavyweight (+91kg) gold medal was taken by Dzhalal-Abad region’s Bayaman Ilyasov at the very first time.
