Afghanistan National Elite & Youth Championships was a great success in Kabul

Afghanistan’s main boxing event their National Championships for the elite and youth boxers was held in the capital city of the country in Kabul. 20 champions have been crowned in the two age groups and among their future stars ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mesawer Kakar also won his weight class.
More than 300 boxers registered and attended in the event from all of the 15 provinces of Afghanistan which is record in the history of their National Elite & Youth Championships. Afghanistan is a developing nation in the Asian continent which has got the same political issues as in Syria but boxing survived in the country and the national federation is trying to organize events to raise the experiences of their boxers.
Afghanistan is planning to send four boxers to the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships to St. Petersburg therefore the youth competition was very important for the 17 and 18-year-old boxers. All of the gold medals in the youth competition won by boxers who train in the capital city of the country in Kabul.
Farhad Zeyaullah was gold medallist in the 2014 Afghanistan Junior National Championships after beating Afghanistan’s biggest future hope Mesawer Kakar in that final two years ago. The 18-year-old boxer returned to the ring with great expectations and defeated all of his rivals in the Youth Light Flyweight class (49kg).
ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mesawer Kakar moved up to the Flyweight class (52kg) following his titles among the junior boxers. The 17-year-old top talent did not give any chance to his opponents in the event and defeated also Kabul’s Safi Ullah and Mohamed Ayamudin in the event. Kakar’s performance could be also enough to win bouts in the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Aqluddin Nezami eliminated in the semi-final of the Youth Bantamweight class (56kg) national team member Ahmad Waseq Sultanzai who trains in the Takhar province in North Afghanistan. The 18-year-old Nezami continued his winning path also in the final of the Youth National Championships and controlled all of the rounds against Saber Popal who trains in Kabul as the winner of the category.
Mujeebullah Ehsan was amazing in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Champiosnhips in Tashkent 16 months ago where he almost defeated Uzbekistan’s strong Temurbek Sadullayev. The Lightweight class (60kg) boxer will be turning to 17 next month and proved great performance in their Youth National Championships once again. Mujeebullah Ehsan was too strong for Mohamed Ekram in the final of the division and claimed his next national title after 2015.
Ahmad Seyar Muradi was silver medallist at the Light Welterweight class (63kg) in the Afghanistan Junior National Championships in 2014. Since then the Kabul-based boxer moved up to the Welterweight class (69kg) which he dominated in the Youth National Championships beating his rivals by large margin of difference.
Ramish was an unknown elite boxer before the start of the Afghanistan National Elite Championships but his efforts were enough to beat all of his opponents. The young hope had to meet in the final of the Elite Light Flyweight class (49kg) with AIBA World Boxing Championships competitor Farhad Sharifi but he was able to find the best fighting distance and win this key bout which was one of the best in the event.
Mohammad Aref Nazari is Afghanistan’s most experienced elite boxer who has been boxing in the international level since 2005. The 29-year-old athlete attended in AIBA World Boxing Championships, won contests in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships therefore his gold medal in the current national event was not a surprise. Nazari was too strong for Kabul’s Mohammad Sakhi in the final of the Flyweight class (52kg).
Kabul’s Zafar Azizi and Ahmad Wais Mohammadi also proved amazing final in the Light Welterweight class (64kg) which was a narrow bout. The final verdict was split decision to Azizi who could be Afghanistan’s national team member in the upcoming international competitions in 2017.
The Welterweight class (69kg) won by National Championships silver medallist Waisudin Faqiri who came from Ghawsi which is near to the historical city of Herat. Hamed Nabard of Herat and Fahim Ahmad Hotak, who defeated Eid Mohammad of Ghazi in the final of the Heavyweight class (91kg), were also proved strong performance in the Afghanistan National Championships.
