Abzal Serik and Sultan Babakhanov proved their top level in the Kazakhstan Junior National Championships

The Kazakhstan Junior National Boxing Championships was held in the city of Oskemen which is well-known about its former name, Ust-Kamenogorsk. Kazakhstan’s best junior boxers such as Abzal Serik and Sultan Babakhanov both have got strong international experiences and their skills were enough to win their important titles in Oskemen.
Oskemen is the administrative center of East Kazakhstan Region and locates near to the Russian boarder. The city hosted plenty of youth and junior events in the recent years therefore the local organizers had all of the experiences to arrange top level of championship which was the first selection for the 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to attend in the Kazakhstan Junior National Boxing Championships in Oskemen. Altogether fourteen winners have been crowned in the event which was held in the official 13 junior categories and in the additional 44kg weight class.
Kazakhstan topped the team rankings in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa and their new generations of junior fighters have been preparing to repeat that powerful performance after the 2017 event.
The first gold medal of the Kazakhstan Junior National Championships was achieved by Almaty region’s Zhasulan Muratuly at the 44kg weight class. Makanalin & Nokerbekov & Satenov Junior Memorial Tournament winner Abdulla Podtiyev achieved bronze medal one year ago and moved up two categories to the light flyweight (48kg) and he changed that result into gold in Oskemen.
Ruslan Kuzeubayev won the gold medal at the Makanalin & Nokerbekov & Satenov Junior Memorial Tournament in 2018 and he was the favourite of the flyweight (50kg) which he realized in the city of Oskemen. Taraz’s Suleimenov Junior Tournament winner Ilgar Salykov controlled all of his fights at the light bantamweight (52kg) and won his first title.
Abubakir Altynbek reached his career highlight with his gold medal at the bantamweight (54kg) in Oskemen. Karagandy’s Schoolboys National Champion Yerassyl Ermek was born only in 2004 but his current skills were enough to beat all of his opponents including another Schoolboys National Champion Taraz’s Aidaulet Samak at the featherweight (57kg).
Emil Zhechev Junior Memorial Tournament winner Abzal Serik is one of their top stars in this age group who claimed his first junior title in Ekibastuz one year ago. The 15-year-old promising star moved up to the lightweight (60kg) in the recent months and dominated all of his fights in Oskemen.
Turkestan region’s Makanalin & Nokerbekov & Satenov Junior Memorial Tournament winner Adilzhan Zhandarbek was runner-up in the last edition of the Kazakhstan Junior National Championships one year ago. Since then he moved up to the light welterweight (63kg) and the 15-year-old talent impressed in Oskemen beating Yerkebulan Shaykenov in the final.
Junior Nations Cup winner Sultan Babakhanov also claimed silver medal in the 2018 Kazakhstan Junior National Championships as Zhandarbek but in Oskemen he was one of the best boxers besides to Abzal Serik. Madi Amirov lost in the final of light middleweight (70kg) to ASBC Asian Junior Champion Yerassyl Zhakpekov one year ago therefore he was more than motivated to win his category in Oskemen.
Almaty region’s Zhanbolat Galymov was Schoolboys National Champion in 2018 and joined to the junior level only this January but his powerful performance delivered for him a gold medal at the light heavyweight (80kg). Dzhambul region’s Balashak Meyram was quarter-finalist in the 2018 edition of the Kazakhstan Junior National Championships and those experiences paid off in the final of the heavyweight (+80kg).
