A National Seminar was held in Saudi Arabia to develop boxing’s grassroots in the country

Education is one of the key aspects for the future developments and Saudi Arabia started to invest to its better boxing future. The Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation Boxing Federation hosted an amateur boxing technical and competition rules seminar for their national officials in the city of Riyadh.

The three-day long National Seminar was taking place in the Saudi Arabia Olympic Leadership Institute in their capital in Riyadh. Eleven local participants attended in the National Seminar which was led by an experienced Canadian official.

The meetings were officiated by Technical Delegate, Instructor and the President of Boxing Canada Mr. Pat Fiacco who worked as Observer in the Ulaanbaatar ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and Technical Delegate in the Fujairah ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships this year.

The Saudi Arabians attended in the Yekaterinburg 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships and at the Kuwait ASBC Asian Confederation Schoolboys Boxing Championships in the recent months but their management is planning more future activities.

The General Secretary of the Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Al-Yami is one of the engine of the strategic management. The head coach of the Saudi Arabian national boxing team is Mr. Azzedine Aggoune of Algeria who was hired on July and he is another key factor in the rapid developments.

The Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation launched a new strategic plan for the next four years to increase the level and the quality of the sport. The Saudi Arabians are planning to develop all of their national officials, ringside doctors, referees & judges, coaches and most importantly their boxers.

“It was a pleasure for me to instruct this Seminar and all participants want to improve their ability to officiate in upcoming boxing events. We had a very good meeting with Mr. Abdullah Al-Yami about his future plans for the Federation and I shared some ideas with him during our negotiations,” said Mr. Pat Fiacco after the Seminar.
