Thailand amazed in the women’s semi-finals of the Asian Games Test Event before Marius Kali won the bout of the day

The boxing tournament of the Asian Games Test Event continued with the semi-finals in the Indonesian capital in Jakarta which is the active preparation for the local organizers before the main multisport event of the year. Thailand was impressive in the women’s semi-final while Indonesia’s Mario Kali amazed in the men’s light flyweight (49kg).
Jakarta will be the host of the upcoming Asian Games which will be taking place from August 18 until September 2. Boxing is a traditional sport in the official program of the Asian Games and all of our continents’ best boxers have been preparing hard to be competitive in the multisport event in August.
Chinese Taipei’s defending ASBC Asian Women’s Champion and Bets Boxer of that Ho Chi Minh City event Lin Yu Ting moved back to the flyweight (51kg) but she was produced top performance against Japan’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Madoka Wada in the quarter-final. Lin continued her tough performance and defeated Indonesia’s Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro in the semi-final of the Test Event. Lin’s final opponent will be Thailand’s Thanthip Wannaphrom in the gold medal bout.
Thailand’s FISU University World Champion Ratchadaporn Saoto moved down to the featherweight (57kg) and she looked fresh and powerful when she met with Chinese Taipei’s ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Huang Hsiao Wen. The 25-year-old Thai talent was able to eliminate her rival and will be boxing for the title with India’s AIBA Youth World Champion Shashi Chopra.
Thailand’s next woman boxer who delivered sensational performance was Nilawan Techasuep who is unknown in the international boxing level yet. Thailand’s new lightweight (60kg) talent was effective in the first round against Indonesia’s Novizar Maulina and took the lead after three minutes. Thailand’s promising young boxer did enough to win the semi-final and will be boxing for the title with India’s Ramilal Pavitra.
Indonesia’s President’s Cup winner Mario Kali returned to his original light flyweight (49kg) and proved he could be one of the best host nation boxer in the Asian Games Test Event. The 23-year-old Indonesian did enough to beat Chinese Taipei’s FISU University World Boxing Championships silver medallist Tu Po Wei in the quarter-final and used strong performance to beat Japan’s No.1 Tomoya Tsuboi in the last four. Kali will be meeting for the title with India’s Shyam Kumar Kakara in the Test Event.
Philippines’ AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Rogen Ladon moved up to the flyweight (52kg) in the recent months and overcame in the attacks Thailand’s Kritiphak Duangnut in the semi-final. The ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist Filipino star will now meet for the gold medal with India’s Salman Anwar Shaikh in the Asian Games Test Event.
Philippines’ Ryan Moreno was bronze medallist in their Youth National Games two years ago but he did not compete in any international events yet. The 20-year-old hope, who moved up to the bantamweight (56kg), delivered a sensation in the third competition day when he defeated Japan’s No.1 Ryomei Tanaka by split decision. His Japanese opponent was so experienced but Moreno’s stamina paid off in their semi-final which means the Filipino boxer will now meet with Thailand’s experienced Yuttapong Tongdee in the final.
Manish Kaushik won their National Championships and the Indian Open Boxing Tournament with world class performance beating Cuban and Indian stars on those events. The 21-year-old lightweight (60kg) boxer was unstoppable also in the semi-final of the Asian Games Test Event where he won all of the rounds by 10:9 against Chinese Taipei’s Rio 2016 Olympian Lai Chu En. The young Indian needs only one further step to win his next gold medal but Japan’s Rentaro Kimura is a powerful opponent.
Thailand’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist and three-time Olympian Saylom Ardee is member of their national team since 2005 but he did not box in the international competitions in the recent one and half year since the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Thailand’s welterweight (69kg) boxer landed enough punches and defeated India’s Pawan Kumar in Jakarta where his final rival will be Indonesia’s Grece Simangunsong.
