Interview with ASBC Vice-President Mr. Youssuf Ali Al-Kazim

Mr. Youssuf Ali Al-Kazim is the President of the Qatar Boxing Federation and the Vice-President of the Asian Boxing Confederation who has been following the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa.
Qatar Boxing Federation hosted the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Doha in October 2015 and the Western Asian country has got great plans in the new Olympic era as well. Mr. Youssuf Ali Al-Kazim replied our questions during his stay in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa.
“The level of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships is fantastic here in Puerto Princesa, Philippines. Asia’s boxing life is very strong and to compare to other continent’s we have got great background for the future. We all recognized Asia has got strong potential in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
We all are satisfied with the performance of the boxers and the organizations of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
Not only Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan sent tough boxers as usual but Japan, India, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea and Iraq also prepared well to the event. Mongolia did not claim any medal in the competition, their drawing was really unlucky but I could recognize their potential for the future.
Japan impressed all of us well in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships with their strong development. I am sure Japan will be ready in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and some of their youngsters could be there in our most important event in three years.
Japan’s top junior boxer Sora Tanaka has got power, great condition and amazing fighting spirit in the event. I presented the Best Boxer Award to Hayato Tsutsumi in Bangkok and now his younger brother Reito is in the final of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
We have got 20 junior boxers in Qatar but we were not able to send them to the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships. Our youth and elite teams are ready to compete in the international level and we are sending them to several events.
Qatar Boxing Federation is planning to use new coaches in the near future, mainly from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Personally I think the Russian school is much better for us than the previous Cuban to increase our boxer’s physical skills and conditions.
Jordan will be hosting this year’s Arab Boxing Championships in December and we will be sending a team there. We are planning to host the Arab Boxing Championships in Doha in 2018 and hopefully the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships for the elite boxer in 2019,” said Mr. Youssuf Ali Al-Kazim in the venue of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
