The Press Conference of the Nepal Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Championships was held in Kathmandu

The new edition of the Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Boxing Championships will be held for their elite female and male boxers at Basantapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu from 31st March until 4th April.

The local organizers arranged a Press Conference in Kathmandu about the preparations of the Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Boxing Championships and to inform the media members and their stakeholders. The current President of the Nepal Boxing Association Mr. Ram Awale and the Coordinator of the competition Mr. Rajiv Shrestha attended in the Press Conference actively.

The official name of the event is 2019 Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Boxing Championships which is one of their most important competitions in the year. The Bir Ganeshman Singh Foundation and Nepal National Sports Council are the supporters of the Nepal National Boxing Championships. The national event will be held after the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualifying Event in Nepal.

Altogether 10 teams have the right to take part in the Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Boxing Championships following the selection events. Seven different provinces and three armed forces team as Police, Army and Armed Police are planning to attend in the event. The state selections will be starting on 27th of February in Biratnagar and to be continued in Kathmandu, in Pokhara, in Nepalgunj and in Dhangadi.

The Bir Ganeshman Singh memorial National Boxing Championships was scheduled in six weight categories for the elite women athletes as follows: light flyweight (48kg), flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg) and the light welterweight (64kg).

The following eight weight categories will be held for the elite men boxers in Basantapur: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), bantamweight (56kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg) and the light heavyweight (81kg).
