19-year-old Lee Hee Seop was sensational in the South Korean National President’s Tournament

The South Korean National President’s Tournament was held for the women and men boxers in the Gimhae Indoor Gymnasium which was a selection competition for the upcoming international events. South Korea’s super talented 19-year-old Lee Hee Seop performed in the world class level again and won his weight class in Gimhae.
South Korea’s boxing life proved great results in the recent one year which is the success of their hard work. Their boxers proudly claimed several medals in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, in the Guwahati 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships and also in the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games.
Seon Eun Su is only 16 but she was able to win the women’s youth flyweight (51kg) in the national tournament. Kim Gyeon turned to already 18 and her performance was enough to Song Seung Hee in the final of the youth lightweight (60kg). The third women’s youth title was achieved by 17-year-old Lee Ye Na who trains in the Top Bit Boxing Club.
Jang Eu Na was member of the national women’s team in 2010 and in 2011 and after a few years of break she returned with a top national result. The 30-year-old boxer from Gyeongnam defeated for the title AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships competitor six-year younger Bak Cho Rong who moved up to the flyweight (51kg) this year.
In the absence of Asian Games winner and two-time ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Oh Yeon Ji a 20-year-old boxer Jeong Gi Jeon won the title of the women’s elite lightweight (60kg) after beating national team member Ko Hyeon Young in the final. Incheon 2014 Asian Games competitor Choi Su Yeon did revenge against ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist 20-year-old Seon Su Jin on their re-match and won the title of the women’s elite middleweight (75kg).
Jo Se Hyeong attended in the Asian Games Test Event and in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup this year and those international experienced helped him to win the men’s light flyweight (49kg) following his triumph over Park Sang Min in the final. The 21-year-old Jo trains in the Daejeon University which is famous of its sport schools.
Lee Hee Seop claimed silver medal in the Pavlodar 2016 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships short after his 17th birthday. Lee turned to 19 and he showed himself in the international elite stage this year with strong success in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup where he took silver medal. The Korean flyweight (52kg) boxer used his fantastic technique to beat Kang Dong Heon in the final of the national event.
Another young talent Choi Min Soo defeated experienced Choe Sang Don in the semi-final of the bantamweight (56kg) and continued his winning path against Kim Hyun Sung in the final. Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner Ham Sang Myeong moved up to the lightweight (60kg) and the 23-year-old boxer was enough quick to catch ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Han Young Hun in a top final bout.
Lee Jong Seung attended in the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and he was slightly better than Park Won Bin in the final of the light welterweight (64kg). Almaty 2013 AIBA World Boxing Championships competitor Lee Sang Min won the title of the welterweight (69kg) after beating Kim Seok Jun in the final.
Astana 2012 AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifiers bronze medallist Kim Jung Won is also a veteran boxer as Lee Sang Min and his experiences were too much for Kim Chi Oh in the final of the middleweight (75kg). The next gold medal surprisingly was went to Yoon Joo Ho who was slightly quicker than ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist Lee Dong Yun who moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg).
Ju Tae Ung claimed silver medal in the 2017 National Championships which he changed into gold after beating Tae Wook Chung in the final of the heavyweight (91kg). Veteran boxer Heo Jin Ho, who has been attending in the international events since 2006, moved up to the super heavyweight (+91kg) in the recent months but it was such a good decision and defeated international boxer Song Hwa Pyeong and Kim Ji Woong in the final stages.
