The first ever women’s junior fights were held on the fourth day of boxing in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships

The fourth competition was held at the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates where the first historical female bouts were in the official program. Altogether 32 contests were held in this day which was the next milestone of the Asian Boxing Confederation and the whole continent.

The number of the countries is record number of 26 in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates where boxers who were born in 2003 or in 2004 are eligible to attend. The number of the boxers is also record breaking 239 altogether including 170 male and 69 female athletes in Fujairah.

India’s Vishvanath Suresh stopped his Sri Lankan opponent
India’s Vishvanath Suresh is a newcomer in the junior national team who replaced more experienced boxers in the line-ups but he amazed in the fourth day of boxing in Fujairah. The Indian pinweight (46kg) boxer started the contest in different rhythm than Sri Lanka’s Suraj Thisantha Matharage and landed tough punches in the first seconds. The referee counted the Sri Lankan twice and confirmed Suresh’s RSC success in the first bout of the day.

Uzbekistan’s Ikboljon Kudratov eliminated a talented boxer from Bahrain on Day4
Uzbekistan’s 16-year-old Ikboljon Kudratov was only quarter-finalist in their Junior National Championships but he reached good results in the international events. The Uzbek pinweight (46kg) boxer had to meet with Bahrain’s Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla in his second appearance in Fujairah. The Uzbek boxer was taller than his inexperienced opponent but he had to do his very best to win this spectacular fight. Bahrain’s promising hope had a strong heart in this bout and in spite of his low number of bouts, he was able to fight until the end of the final gong.

Uzbekistan’s 15-year-old Jokhonmurod Imomaliev eliminated an energetic Indian on Day4
Uzbekistan’s Jokhonmurod Imomaliev won all of his national and international contests in the recent months and arrived to Fujairah as gold medal contender of the bantamweight (54kg). The 15-year-old Uzbek is spending his first year among the juniors but he amazed in his debuting contest against India’s energetic Yaiphaba Meitei Sanjaramban. The Uzbek landed tough right-handed punches in the second round and worked from longer distance in their spectacular fight. Imomaliev was a hard target for the tiring Indian in the third therefore the Uzbek marched into the next stage of boxing.

A top bantamweight (54kg) fight was won by Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek Uulu
Philippines’ Dave Asi Laurejas and Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek both won their first fight in Fujairah in the previous stages of the championship. The Filipino tried to work from longer reach and trusted on his footwork to avoid the Kazakh attacks in the first round. Altynbek has got excellent technique and his tactical skills were too much for the Filipino who is attending in his first international event. The Kazakh boxer’s best round was the third when he destroyed Laurejas’ defence and advanced to the next round in Fujairah.

Thailand’s Phanuwat Butchan won his second fight in Fujairah with world class performance
Thailand’s Phanuwat Butchan is only 15 but he won their Youth National Games on May and the Khon Kaen National Games on August. The Thai lightweight (60kg) boxer won his first fight already in Fujairah but as second he delivered much better performance. Butchan was aggressive from the first seconds against Iran’s Seyed Ali Hasheminasab and took the lead on the scorecards. Butchan increased his rhythm in the second and dominated his quarter-final with world class performance.

Kyrgyzstan’s strong duo defeated competitive rivals on Day4
Kyrgyzstan’s Kabatay Mukash Uulu moved up to the middleweight (75kg) in the recent months and used his amazing physical skills to show his very best against India’s Sagar Sehrawat which was another hectic bout of Day4. Mukash Uulu landed the stronger punches in their contest and his strategy also worked well which means he can continue in the next stage of boxing. His teammate Argen Baktybekov won his second fight in Fujairah and following his success over Iran’s Mohammad Hossein Ebrahimzade, he is semi-finalist at the heavyweight (+80kg).

Historical women’s junior fights in Fujairah
The first ever female fights were held in the history of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the first two winners in these fights arrived to Fujairah from China and Kazakhstan. China’s Deng Laping used her height advantage well enough against Kazakhstan’s Dilnaz Bagyt on Ring B while at Ring A Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova was slightly better than Thailand’s Runrarit Graisee at the light flyweight (48kg). One of the best female performances in the afternoon session was delivered by Thailand’s Natnicha Chongprongklang who stopped her opponent from Chinese Taipei, Chen Wan Ting.

India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham defeated his Kazakh opponent once again following their first meeting on August
India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham defeated Kazakhstan’s Bekzat Aldamzharov by split decision in the semi-finals of the Junior Nations Cup on August and the two favourites of the light flyweight (48kg) met each other already on Day4 in Fujairah. Following their tactical first round, both boxers increased their tempo in the second which period was finished by the Indian with strict jabs. Chongtham felt the distance well in the third and his superb final round delivered for him a place in the semi-finals defeating Kazakhstan’s boxer once again on their re-match.

Mongolia’s Elbeg Chuluuntogtokh pressurized his opponent in the quarter-finals
Mongolia’s best junior hope injured before the start of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships but their light welterweight (63kg) hope Elbeg Chuluuntogtokh amazed in the Fujairah event. The 16-year-old Mongolian started his bout against Jordan’s Hashem Alawneh in different rhythm and landed high number of punches. Junior National Games winner Chuluuntogtokh pressurized his Jordan Junior National Champion opponent in the second. Alawneh was competitive only in the third round but his efforts were not enough to turn back their spectacular fight.
