The 7th women and the 31st men edition of the Bangladesh National Championships saw a great future hope for the country, Zinnat Ferdous at the women’s light flyweight.
Zinnat Ferdous is a top star in Bangladesh, their best female boxer who claimed several medals in various European events in the recent two and half years and the US-based girl represented the country also at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand on December 2024.
She earned a gold medal at the recent Braga Open Tournament in Portugal this July and she was named as the Best Boxer of the event.
She got the bye in the first quarter-finals round at the Bangladesh National Championships in her weight class
Her first opponent in the semi-finals was Asia Khatun, an inexperienced boxer in comparison for Zinnat Ferdous who dominated their contest in the Nationals.
Afra Khandakar was the final rival in the Bangladesh National Championships for Zinnat Ferdous and she did not underestimate her. Ferdous was too smart and quick for Khandakar in the final of the weight class and she claimed the title of the National Championships with dominance from the first seconds.
Zinnat Ferdous plans to compete in European events in the months of October and in November to meet against strong opponents and test herself before the main goals in 2026.
Her main targets are the multisport events in 2026 such as the Commonwealth Games, the Asian Games and the South Asian Games. The Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow, Scotland from July 24 in 2026 and Zinnat Ferdous plans longer training camps before the highlight of the year where Bangladesh is allowed to participate.
