Yang and Tanglatihan delighted the Chinese boxing fans at the Elorda Cup on Day4

Excellent semi-final contests took place in the second edition of the Elorda International Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan today. China’s top boxers as Yang Wenlu and Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan both advanced to the finals in Kazakhstan’s capital.

The Elorda Cup will be a money prize event, all of the gold medallists will earn 700 USD, the silver medallists 400 USD and the two boxers who will take the bronze medals each will get 200 USD from the local organizers. Bahrain, China, India, Japan, host Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan sent boxers to the 2nd edition of the Elorda Cup.

Kazakhstan’s World Championships silver medallist Alua Balkybekova dominated her semi-final over Akbota Bolat and she will now meet for the title of the women’s minimumweight (48kg) Aigerim Sattibayeva, another local boxer.

Kazakhstan’s two-time Women’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay stopped Mongolia’s Sodon-Od Binderiya in a one-sided semi-final and she will be boxing for the title Tajikistan’s Rukhafzo Khaknazarova who had a narrow success over Gulnar Turapbay.

China’s veteran Yang Wenlu eliminated Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeyeva who moved down to the lightweight (60kg) in recent weeks. The Chinese boxer, who was World Champion in 2016, expects a heavy battle against Rimma Volosenko of Kazakhstan as next.

India’s Vijay Kumar eliminated a local boy, Zholdas Zhenissov in the semi-final of the men’s lightweight (60kg) following his excellent finish in the last round. Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian U22 Champion Dilshod Abdumurodov eliminated a former Asian Youth Champion Kazakh, Biybars Zheksen in the next semi-final.

Shamsher Saidov had a surprise success in the previous stage at the welterweight (67kg) and he continued his unexpected winning path against Kazakhstan’s Temirkhan Tezek. His success guaranteed his place in the final where Kazakhstan’s Yelnur Suyunbay will be waiting for him.

Kazakhstan’s Armat Armanuly controlled all of the three rounds against Turkmenistan’s Muhammet Babayev and managed to win the first semi-final of the men’s middleweight (75kg). Another U22 level Kazakh boxer, Dias Molzhigitov was too strong for Bakbergen Aliaskarov in the second semi-final.

China’s best male boxer, Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan was silver medallist in the last World Boxing Championships but he needed to do his very best to eliminate Uzbekistan’s Youth World Champion Turabek Khabibullayev. Tanglatihan will be boxing for the title of the light heavyweight (80kg) with another Uzbek, Jasurbek Yuldashev who had a tight success against Kazakhstan’s Ilya Kisselyev.
