Voris Makhmudov and Khusravkhon Rakhimov are finalists in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships
The semi-finals of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships were held in Kulob where several tough battles have been held among the future hopes. Two Youth National Champions and experienced international level boxers as Voris Makhmudov and Khusravkhon Rakhimov both advanced to the finals of the bantamweight (56kg).
Tajikistan Boxing Federation was held a National Referee & Judge Course before the start of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships in the city of Kulob which is located in the southern region of the country in the Khatlon region. Experienced international R&Js as Mr. Mansur Mukhiddinov and Mr. Akmal Abdullaev were the instructors of their educational project in Kulob.
The new edition of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships for their male and female is a four-days long competition in Kulob. Record number of 51 female boxers attend in the national event where the number of the male athletes is 76. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 are eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships from all regions of the country.
Munisa Khamidova and Sidikjon Bibioyshai are the first finalists in the women’s part of the event, they will be boxing for the gold medal of the pinweight (46kg). Khatlon region’s Women’s Junior National Champion Mavluda Safarova is the favourite against Oyshamo Jafarova at the flyweight (51kg). Khatlon region’s Junior National Champion Fayzullo Sharoati moved up to the light welterweight (64kg) and will be facing for the title with Shirinmo Ashurova.
Dushanbe’s Mekhrob Khamidov was Youth National Champion in 2019 and moved down to the light flyweight (49kg) in the recent months. The 18-year-old boxer eliminated Alisher Mirzokhonov in the semi-finals and will be boxing for the title with Junior National Championships silver medallist Akbarali Abdurakhmonzoda.
Sughd region’s Junior National Champion Iskandarbek Rustamov has got strong international results as a junior. He achieved silver medal at the Galib Dzhafarov Prizes Junior Tournament in 2019 and competed at the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The 17-year-old Tajik bowed out Umarbek Odilozoda and will be meeting for the gold of the flyweight (52kg) with Zabirsho Nurmatov.
Dushanbe’s defending Youth National Champion Voris Makhmudov was too strong for Khusan Kayumov in the semi-finals of the bantamweight (56kg). He will be meeting for the title with Youth National Champion Khusravkhon Rakhimov who moved up one category and eliminated Farrukh Khalimov in a one-sided contest.
Sughd region’s Azimjon Doniyorov was bronze medallist in the 2019 Tajikistan Junior National Championships and proved strong developments which means he can box for the title with his teammate 18-year-old Yusuf Rustamjoni at the lightweight (60kg). Sughd region’s Dovud Makhkamov and Sarvar Yusupov are the finalists at the men’s light welterweight (64kg) in Kulob.
Dushanbe’s Junior National Championships silver medallist Fayzali Gulomov caused the main sensation of the semi-finals of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships when he defeated Sughd region’s Junior National Champion Doston Dodov. His next rival for the gold medal will be Usmonjon Kayumov who defeated Abdurauf Ulmasov.
Durandesh Zubaydov was gold medallist at the middleweight (75kg) in the 2019 Tajikistan Junior National Championships. The 17-year-old boxer remained at the weight category and advanced to his next final in Kulob where his next opponent will be Dushanbe’s last year’s bronze medallist one-year older Eradj Rakhmatulloev.
Bakhman Rasulov claimed silver medal in the last edition of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships and he also advanced to the finals and he is the favourite against Shakhzod Nosirov at the super heavyweight (+91kg).
