Uzbekistan won all of the gold medals in the Tashkent International Junior Tournament

The first international junior tournament of the year was held in the Uzbek capital in Tashkent where fifteen young winners celebrated their titles after the finals. Uzbekistan won all of the 15 gold medals and among their top future hopes Islombek Ganiyev, Asrorbek Shakhobiddinov, No.1 Login Petrov and Jakhongir Zokirov remained unbeaten following their national events.
Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to attend in the International Junior Tournament in Tashkent. More than 180 boxers attended in 15 different weight classes from the 42kg category up to the heavyweight (+80kg) in Tashkent. Besides to the official 13 junior categories the local organizers added the 42kg and 44kg weight classes to give chance to all of their young hopes to compete in an international tournament.
The first gold medal was achieved by Tashkent’s Junior National Cup bronze medallist Jakhongir Egamberdiyev who was slightly better than Bakhtiyor Asadov in the final of the 42kg weight class. Karakalpakstan is Uzbekistan’s region and their new hope Madiyar Doniyorov, who has got strong family connections to boxing, defeated Bukhara’s Jonibek Avezov in the second final of the event.
Ferghana’s Junior National Cup winner Islombek Ganiyev eliminated Khorezm’s Azizbek Yuldashev in a close semi-final and he was better than Bukhara’s Mukhammadali Akhmadov in the final of the pinweight (46kg). Andizhan is famous of its boxing schools and their hope Junior National Cup winner Asrorbek Shakhobiddinov had a strong success against Ferghana’s Jamshid Sadikov in the quarter-final and Samarkand’s Asliddin Bobokulov in the title bout of the light flyweight (48kg).
Tashkent’s Bakhtiyor Zukhrullayev eliminated Asilkhon Anvarboyev in a hectic semi-final and he used his attacking style to beat Andizhan’s Nodirbek Soyipov in their respective final. Andizhan’s second gold medal in the event was achieved by Junior National Cup winner Jokhonmurod Imamaliyev who controlled his final over Navoy’s Timur Radjabov at the light bantamweight (52kg).
Khorezm’s Diyorbek Navruzov is a new face but he was able to beat the favourite, Ferghana’s Jamshidbek Siddikov in the final of the bantamweight (54kg) while Tajikistan’s Abdurakhmon Yokubov failed his quarter-final bout in Tashkent. Ferghana’s Diyorbek Mukhammadjonov had excellent stamina in the final against Murod Kudratov and celebrated his title at the featherweight (57kg).
Karakalpakstan’s second gold medal was achieved by Temirkhan Makhsetbayev who stopped Tajikistan’s lone finalist in the event Usmonjon Kayumov at the lightweight (60kg). Andizhan’s next title was taken by Mirzamakhmet Mirzabekov who outpointed Ferghana’s Kamronbek Turgunboyev in the final of the light welterweight (63kg).
Navoy’s No.1 Login Petrov could be a superb future star in Uzbekistan who already bagged medals in the international junior events in 2018 and he was too strong for Ferghana’s Asadbek Safarov. Petrov won his third tournament title within three months and could be a strong favourite also in the 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
Dzhizak’s Junior National Cup bronze medallist Azizbek Ermatov defeated Ferghana’s two best boxers in the light middleweight (70kg) as Murod Tursunov and Fazliddin Dekhkonov in the competition. Junior National Cup winner Rustambek Tokhirov controlled the final of the middleweight (75kg) over Sarvar Sobirov and claimed his next title.
Tashkent’s Abdullo Solikhov had two close contests in the final stage of the light heavyweight (80kg) but he was able to win both of them against Khorezm’s Akbarbek Shonazarov and Ferghana’s Asadbek Umarov. Dzhizak’s Jakhongir Zokirov won the gold medal in the Uzbekistan Junior National Cup and following his narrow success over Karakalpakstan’s Ali Nuranov in the semi-final, he dominated the final against Namangan’s Samandar Sobirjonov.
